Gorgeous tank... glad to hear it's a bolt-on solution for this - fairly straightforward DIY I assume?

Great job!

Thank you for the posts everyone! We really appreciate it.

The install is simple, similar to a heat exchanger as far as difficulty. If anyone has questions with the install we're always here to help.

Sincerely,

Aaron

The tank is installed inline with the outlet of the intercooler and the inlet of the heat exchanger. So there is no fancy re-routing of lines. I installed the unit pictured without removing the bumper. Its tight, but possible. I would however recommend bumper removal the first time to make the job easier.

Any issues with space if you have a LET intake??? ON the passenger side of the LET intake, there is a large filter that may intrude into the space of the reservoir?? Any thoughts???

Why remove the bumper?? Isn't is to the rear and top of the radiator???

Post a picture of the LET intake again, and I can tell you. It fits with the stock intake, so I dont think its going to be a problem. The new hose actually goes down low by the air injection pump.

Here is an above close up. The hose on the car right now is regular heater hose, although a molded hose is included. You can see how far the hose connection intrudes the intake space. The connection is about 2 inches lower than the lid, which is almost flush with the crossmember. Its going to be close, but I think it will work.

If the cone intake has even a little room to move, it will most likely work.

That's going to be tight with the LET filter!!! Man o Man!!! I think the cone filter will go a lil to the left so that may work for me.

Code3, that is a great looking tank. Now all I have to do is figure out how to mount it on my SRT6. What are the dimensions of the tank and of the bracket? I'd love to have that on the Aero.

Aaron, please check on fitment for the SLK32 also (and with a LET intake...).

Thanks--

Just curious - doesn't really matter, but does this also fit WITH the OEM engine cover in place?

Is this a totally sealed system? I'm wondering about the heat/cooling cycle and the pressure changes for those of us who live in cold winter climates.

SRT-6
SRT6 IC / Engine Tank Separation

I did the same thing on my 3.2L AMG SRT6 motor.

I added a 28oz expansion tank from Meziere ($105) to the radiator shroud for the engine coolant and made a 1 Gal "flow" tank that replaced the OEM plastic tank on the DS fender for the intercooler. Very Tame IAT's......even under hard boost on a hot summer day.

The C3P tank looks nice, but I have a feeling it will pick up a lot of heat from the radiator fan because its sitting right behind the radiator. Try putting your hand right behind the radiator with the fan on full blast; it gets rather toasty. I don't think it will fit other vehicles other than a C32 because the SLK32 and SRT6 have a different upper core support. It would be wise to insulate/wrap the tank from heat before you install it, especially if you plan on putting ice in there. You can measure the temperature of the coolant fluid pretty easily if you install an inline temperature gauge adapter into the heater hose, so you won't have to tap the tank.

pshek, I was thinking of mounting on the fender like BrianBrave did his. I would likely have to fab up a bracker for it but I need the dimensions to see if it would fit. Or I could get one from Brian's vendor.

The tank gets warm, and thats about it. I can do 20 minutes of hard testing, pop the lid open, and drop my hand in. Water temps are about 75. I can drive the car for 2 hours, pop the hood, and grab the tank no problem. Engine coolant temps remain unchanged. I tested the unit the entire summer through 110 weather with no issues. The aluminum keeps temps in check, as well as the fan ports that go through the unit.

This unit only fits the C32. Other cars can use the setup that Brian suggested. Our cars are very different on the fenders from the srt6/slk.
