Reputable indie shops in the N. Chi-town Burbs

Looking for any suggestions, northern or north-western burbs would be great. Western 'burbs might work too, since I work in Wood Dale.

Just looking for somebody who can do all around work (taking off the bumper for clear headlights, full-on brake replacement, maybe suspension upgrades or plugs too). All that matters is that somebody can vouch for their work, whether they actually know our cars decently or if they can just manage to knock out some maintenance on them without screwing anything up.

Any ref's would be much appreciated

Yep, I was thinking about them but the logistics would be a nightmare, unless I wanted to wait there while they fixed it. Bring a 12-pack, I suppose?

Thanks for the info Coin, I'll check him out too.

I can honestly recomend MGElite Motors in Des PLaines, IL.
Personally know the owners, they worked on my car after accident. They do not cut corners !!!! Only genuin parts, they have no problem with you providing your own parts, will give you loaner if needed.
And resonable prices

Regards Jack
PM me if you need more info.

Holy hell, figured the thread had dropped off by now but then I come back to this, lol! Thanks for all the advice - I think I probably will hit up Fluid, given all the recommendations.

MGElite good and reputable? Definitely yes... MGElite being cheap? Not really. $130 for res-delete isn't necessary a bargain.

HI-LINE European Automative Experts, 410 Ogden Avenue, Downers Grove, IL 60515, 630-663-0044 (George Buchman) Call ahead for a loaner. My personal fave as George Buchman was the head tech at Laurel Mercedes for years. Very very fair, and very knowledgable.

Helmut & Vito's, 1430 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, IL 60515, 630-963-1340, has loaners as well

Star European Imports: Don't go, crooks. Gotten to big for their own good.

St. Charles Motorsports, LTD. 2905 W. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60175 (Alexander Poppl) 630-443-1600 - This place works on very rare vehicles. When I stopped in they were rebuilding a murcielago's engine, had a few rolls, and a bunch of benz's, beemers, etc. Technically the left over service shop for Fox Valley Motorsports that disconnected and moved to West Chicago. No loaners

Those are the places I've had positive experiences with. Did like Hi-Line cause they let you watch as your car is getting fixed, relaxed shop, and very very knowledgable.

Yes Fluid Motion is fabulous...huge waiting area near shopping and a theatre I believe and pretty sure they will drive you to a nearby place to keep you occupied as they attend to your car

Glenn you better have nitrous in those boxes to get close to Jake..but I think maybe you will have a chance with me with my new spark plugs and 5th tank of 93 octane

New plugs (Not hair, correct???), WOW, you went to the "Jake School" of high performance tuning!!! Bring it on Vic, Spring is not that far away. (Plus, I am not driving the mini-Beast anyway, the ML 55 is out and about now and gotta run down to Tire Rack for a new set of snows.

ya, I guess it helps when you run too much boost afnd blow out your own spark on the plugs...but then again glenn you wouldnt need to worry about that...!!!!

let me guess...injectors perhaps..

Let me know when your going over to fluid...I will stop by....me and the crew live 5 minutes from there..

Well as long as its not nitrous then it's on(but will still run ya)....hopefully the track in US41 next season can open up early...you know my mods and Jakes mods so when you feel like posting then say what you added....if I add more then I will say. Will say you will need more then a C3P SC pulley and Code/LET intake and a belt rap to put a hurting on the 185mm maybe by adding a crank pulley you will have a better chance even cooling mods I doubt will they are not known to give you more power but do help provide much more efficient cooling thus keeping your power longer.
