OT: Real World Vette ZR-1 test

Problem with the GTR is, people are voiding their warrenties buy over using the launch control option. I guess they are blowing out their transmissions. The dealer wont cover it. not to metion i guess the GTR had a computer that records how many times you use launch control.

OT, BUT the GTR records everything a driver does (speed, angle of attack, throttle position, brake position, G forces, gear selection etc etc) and there's not a lot of happy campers out there! It was used against one guy on the Nissan forums already for a trans issue?? Ouch!! (I guess he used te launch control against their wishes). I hear (haven't seen) there's over 150 DO NOT DOs in the owners manual that are highlighted as well.

OT/ can you sell a new car in the US with a standard option that viods the warrenty Nissan is going to get them selfs in to some trouble with this one.
OT/ the problem with the vette is... its a vette. No body kit or new engine will make it any less of a meat heads car.

The point is, when you buy a zr1 its a supercar straight out of the box. It has 600+ hp with nurgburg ring tuned suspension.
The kind of people who would spend $120k on a car, don't really car about doing any heavy modding, they want something fast out of the box.
The problem is, no one can really tell its a zr1 or a z06. Its too subtle...it doesn't look like a supercar for the supercar price tag. No one is going to know this is the car that ran a 7:22 ring time.
You can easily modd a evo to be quicker then the zr1 on the quarter mile for much less then $60k too...but thats not the point.
its not a apples to apples comparison when your comparing modded to stock.

They stepped up and massaged it down to 7:22 from the initial 7:40 time.
Instead of complaining, they just made a better car.

Yes, BUT this was a real-world test with a real-world driver with a real world test track, NOT some pro on the Ring. I'll bet most drivers would work real hard to get this car into the low 11s with wheel-spin etc. Yes, I saw one, sat in one, BUT did not drive one. NICE car, BUT a modded Z-51 would be the ticket for me
I'm sure the aftermarket will find a way to delete the black box history...given all the people crying foul over it.

If you wanted a $200k supercar then you should just bought a aston martin, lower end ferrari or lambo.


Here's a test for you other then the hood, rims and the black carbon fiber trim on the bottom...can you tell me what the physical differences are between the z06 and zr1?
