I found this metal sticker on ebay for $1.99 for two. Fits the shifter cap perfectly and looks pretty good. Took two tries to install on my shifter -- good thing they gave me two.

I (as many of you guys do as well) love the black series shifter cap. I looked into making one of these, but I think you'd need to do a large run to get any type of realistic pricing. If you look closely, the convex shape of the cap definitely hinders design. If you look at high res pics of the affalterbach logo on the BS cap, you'll notice that it's incredibly detailed, so it won't be easy to replicate as finely detailed.
In the case that this could be done, I tried taking apart the shifter to get to the cap but it seems that anything short of destroying it is the only way.
I ended up going a different route - since many MB's share the same shifter (203, 209, 171, 204) I found a CLK500 shifter that was brand new that had a black star cap with chrome edge around it. Matches the dash and accents perfectly and I love it - adds that final touch to the center console. Just giving other "easy replacement" ideas...

REAL carbon shifter cap
For those who has C55 or SLK55 with plain shifter cap, we have this small pieces made, REAL carbon with ///AMG text sealed under clear coat!
Hope this can help!
We are also think about powder coat the caps and use CNC to engrave whatever cutomers want! what you guys think?

My fellow C55 owners, have we made any progression on upgrading the plain/empty look on the head of the shifter?
I know most benzs have the MB 3-star emblem, but is there anyway we can get an AMG emblem or one that says C55? would getting custom stickers be the easiest and most cost-effective way to upgrade the empty cap?
it's just too plain... look forward to your thoughts & suggestions! thx
