Mysterious failure of my C32

Yesterday, my car died of no reason. It won't start, b/c the ignition key won't crank (it's locked). The Merc roadside mearsured battery level to be normal. He disconnected the battery and let it sit for a while. Then it was able to be started. However, he recommended me to put the car in shop for a full diagnose of the problem. They suspect a ignition failure relating to the computers.

The car is in the shop now, and it'll be there for a week. I hope the situation won't get out of hand. I don't want to drive a Camry all the time. Have any of you had similar problem?

Just FYI, it may not be applicable in PRC, but others with TeleAid may use this.

If your Benz has a problem/glitch, you can just hit the SOS button, the SOS lady can run a scan-diagnostic on your car. This is a really sweet feature of the TeleAid. If she cannot figure out what's up via the diagnostics, a MB Tech is nearby to help her.

Rather cool.

hehe, 1/2 of the year I am here in us and the other half in PRC. My C32 failed here in CT. Since GPS won't work in China, i doubt Tele-Aid will work.

Speaking of the loaner... am I suppose be getting something better? Damn, i got ripped off.

Each dealer has their own loaner policy...All dealers here in So. California give out MB loaners when you schedule an appointment in advance....

I have gotten 3 Mercedes loners so far, and they are all C240s. Nice cars, but I really want an SLK320. Which dealer can I expect this kind of service?

LaMay, it actually depends on what kind of deal is worked out between enterprice or whichever car rental company and the dealership. The rental car company purchase the cars from the dealership to use as the loaner and the dealership in exchange pays for the customer.

probably Fletcher Jones in newport beach. I know that Penske and HOI only has 240s and some 320s C or E.

Just out of curiousity, the loaner that the dealers provide are always weaker than that of the owner's car? Say you get the top of the line SL, S, or CL, will you get the same loaner as a C class owner? This is the first time that I needed a loaner, so I'm totally foreign to the process.

LAMAY, is that you on the little thumbnail below your name?

Yes, it's me and you are not the only one asking that....

My dealer has always been very nice to me, offer me either a E320 or the new C320.....They don't give you a choice to pick, sometimes they just hang you the key and ask you to sign their loaner agreements........I've never seen a loaner SLK or E430 yet, but my dad got a S430 once and after that, all E320s.

at HOI if there are E320s, C320s, and C240s you can ask them to give you the E320 with no problem, but most of the time you'll only see C240s on the lot because who ever get there first gets to pick first. If you reserve for a MB loaner you will definitely get a MB loaner.

Unfortunely doesn't matter what model of cars you have you will still only get what they have available for loaner.

Crap! You guys are all getting Mercs, and I have a Camery. Umm?!

Well, finally my car was fixed on Friday. Good thing that it's not a big deal. The problem was not what the mechanics initially thought was happening (issue w/ the ignition computer module). My car won't start was b/c of the faulty remote+key code module. For some reason (unknown), the signal being sent from my key to the car didn't match. Hence, it locked out the entire system (engine won't start, key won't turn, and door won't open, etc). They fixed the problem by replacing my keyless remotes, and replacing the remote sensor unit.

Now, something seem to be different. When you guys push the unlock button on your remote once, does it unlock all the doors? Or, does it unlock the driver's door only? I thought before I take my car in the shop, one push of the button unlocks all. Maybe I'm wrong.

Pretty girl driving a pretty car... Emm, nice.

One push or two is programmable by the dealer. Ask to have it your way.

I think you can program "unlock 1 door" or "unlock all" yourself. I did that myself, but I forgot how....sorry! RTFM!

by holding on to both the unlock and lock buttom on the key for about 10 seconds. you'll see the little light on the key flashes and the mode will be changed from one to the other.
