I've been driving in the snow with almost no problems, and I'm still on my performance all-season radials. I did have one incident going up a steel hill where I had to let the car inch up the hill on its own, and one where I was driving through some deep ruts. I didn't get stuck either time, and have had no other problems. You just have to be gentle.

Ya, even a little hill will get you. Kinda rough inching up the hill but I found that you need a running start and your fine!

About 3 months ago I put on some F1 GS-D3's. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Wholly crap. They are soooo bad in the snow. But, I knew what I was getting into when I bought them. My daily driver is out of commission right now so I have to drive the C32. I feel your pain gtr886!

Snow+summer tires worst traction ever. I learned the hard way when I used to have my 03 350z. My daily driver C36 has Gen exclaim UHP A/S good in the snow.

I feel your pain...

Yeah, it took me 25 mins + the help of a couple buddies at work to get out of the parking spot I had on the side of the road. Of course it snows the day before I scheduled to put my newly acquired snow tires on!

See my thread for pics of the new wheel/tire set up.

????????

I'm planning on getting two extra rear wheels from tire rack so i can just switch them for the winter. the only size they offered for the c32 is 18" and plus. The only problem i have is that i have the H&R lower springs installed and i not sure if i can take the 18" in the back.

any suggestions?

I bought my tires from tirerack and their system of selecting your vehicle drove me absolutely bananas. Basically, don't worry about selecting your vehicle, just buy rims with the correct size and offset for your car and tires to fit the rims. That being said, I didn't end up buying my rims from tirerack, just the tires, as I found there were better deals, and a much better selection to be had elsewhere, e.g. craigslist, ebay and other aftermarket wheel sites.

. Thus the reason fo the ML 55 with AWD and Artic Alpin snow tires, Its like driving in the dry with them. The ML is a fabulous snow monster and the ability to use even just one wheel to get going with the Torque splitting diff is unreal. We got 12 inches on Friday morning and the truck was unstoppable. Highly recommended

Merry Christmas to all

A few weeks ago I drove From Detroit to Toronto through 3" of snow with the F1 Asymetrics. Had to get off to the truck stop to clear the windshield and headlights. Made it back on to the 401 with a slight uphill ramp. My Quaife atb differential did help. Made it home without incident. Changed over to my winter tires the next day.
Summer tires definitely not recommended for the snow.

This hill was a little too long for a running start. Plus, there were too many cars in front of me for that. No worries though, I've had plenty of practice with cars that haven't been winter-friendly.

i'm ridin Yokahama 245/35/ZR20-275/30/ZR20's. ZR rated here in UTAH. Not a good idea. I can't even drive it if there's snow out. Be it's all good every once in a while. I can wheel in my wifes Navigator. Good times!!!!

Get dedicated winter tires. That's a must-have if you drive this type of car in the winter. I put Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds on ours and it drives great, even in the deep snow we've had in IL over these past couple of weeks. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not perfect. You can get down the roads pretty well but parking in heavy snow on Chicago side streets will net about a 50% chance of getting stuck! Be sure to carry a shovel of some sort with you just in case if you live in that kind of environment.

Do you guys think it's OK just to put on winter tires on the rear only? My F1 still have 70% left and i have no space to storage 4 tires in my apartment.

Any suggestions?

No. DO NOT put on only 2!!! Front wheels turn and stop the car. Rear wheels only help with acceleration. Actually, the best tires should be put on the front wheels. But of course that will leave you stranded. I am not going to dive into car dynamics, but with mismatched tractions between front and rear you are more likely to get into an accident.

Wheels: EuroTech wheels 17x8. With lugs and shipping it’s about $600.
Tires: Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi 225/45/17. About $700.

What is this snow thing of which you speak ...

Just kidding, I've actually heard of it. Seriously though, don't do snow tires on just one end, especially given the piddling difference in money you're talking about. Can you see yourself coming on here to tell us about totaling your car 'cause you couldn't steer...

I drove about 75 miles today in snow, high winds, heavy drifts, and -5 degrees......all on my performance all-seasons and had no problems. Like I said, it's all in how you drive.

Are you referring to Goodyear F1 GSD3's or F1 All Seasons? I'm currently riding on F1 A/S and expect to drive in snow, but haven't had to yet. I did drive my Corvette with GSD3's in snow and it wasn't funny, even on the interstate, that was scary!!
