For those of you who own the LET 185 kit..old and new...

I noticed that LET is selling their 185 kit once again, with what appears to be upgraded pulleys for the water pump and idler.

Would any of you say this kit is better or more 'reliable' than the old kit? In all truth, isn't the 185 kit a bit...dangerous for our cars? Or is it not as risky as the older systems w/the older pulleys? If it is an improvement over the older stuff, I might just quit playing around and go hardcore with the 185.

the new kit has updated bearings to fix some of the problems from the old kits.

Besides updated idler pulley bearings, the new water pump pulley is stronger as they had problems with the older one being too thin, I believe. I think the crank pulley itself has always been the same.

I wouldn't say the 185 is "dangerous" for our cars, but its definitely a personal choice. A 185 pretty much allows the maximum boost our car can allow without throwing codes, will overdrive our accessories more than any of the smaller pulleys and in general push our engines harder than anything else.

Will it be less reliable? Not really. But then again, maybe an accessory will wear out prematurely. Some people would consider that less reliable. Many people have been running 185's without any problems as far as I can tell.

When I initially decided to purchase my Code3 pulley, I wanted a modest increase in power, something easy to install/uninstall in case I ever had smog issues and something that wouldn't overdrive my accessories. It did give me a good boost in power, but I go hungry for more, and now those considerations before don't matter as much to me.

Good luck!

I couldn't agree more. With an ECU tune matched to this pulley, I definitely wouldn't say it's dangerous...accept maybe when running with ESP off (relatively speaking) or in dyno mode. ...but not dangerous to the engine itself.

As a recent customer for the 185mm pulley and tune, the customer service is top notch. When I spoke with Jerry he was cordial, knowledgeable and friendly. All my friends in South Florida with experiences with Jerry and LET have given nothing less than 100% satisfaction with their products and services. Trust me when I say this, go hardcore you will not regret it.

In case you don't frequent it, there is a lot of excellent technical info on crossfireforum.org pertaining to our M112K engines - specifically on this topic, you'll find loads of good info in this thread:
