WHAT ARE COMMON CAUSES TO THIS?
I have for a few months now the air bag system(SRS) warning light on which appears to be my sensor on passenger side...I had it cleared with StarDas machine 2x before but it turned on a few times but then went away but now its pretty much on all the time...what might be a quick cheap fix for a car without warranty?

I have no idea if this applies here, but on my BMW it's a common occurrence. It has something to do with the drivers side seat belt. A good friend of mine had his repaired on his BMW. I'll find out for sure what he had replaced tomorrow and post the info here.

I had this issue to when I once replaced my battery. Also when disconnecting my seat modules (The fiber optic looking connectors)
Try disconnecting the battery over night.. to see if it clear.
That solved my issue.

Heres the possible cause... Now prior I had this warning code removed with StarDos system and it came back even though the passenger side sensor was replaced. I went today to MB dealer to have it checked and StarDos machine had no warnings and all systems appear to be fine so the tech told me that it has something to do with CanBus and referred to a possible new ignition switch but I recalled seeing "display fault warning" before and remembered that Pac Devices deal with the can bus thus told the Tech and he explains that is possibly the cause...so he cleared the code and if it returns then I am removing the Pac Devices and removing warning again and seeing if it fixes the issue.

hope it works out. dont think its a canbus error. canbus errors don't cause srs lights. if you unplug your seat control module, it causes a canbus error. It gets stored in the ecu but doesn't cause any cels. When you plug your ecu into star, the canbus errors will show up from all the times you unplugged the seat control module.

Oh boy! It looks like I am joining your SRS club today.
I was cleaning up my C32 this morning in the driveway. I had pushed it out of the garage, as I didn't want to start it up for a few seconds. My son's truck battery died and I decided to help out with a jump. I turned the ignition on and put the car in neutral, rolled down the driveway while turning the wheel to the left. Suddenly, I heard and odd pop and the SRS warning light came on. It won't go away now.
I had just moved the steering wheel to the fully extended position during the cleaning and moved it back to my driving position after cleaning.
My fear is that something really did break in my air bag system. I shutter to think what that could cost.
Any other experiences or suggestions?

I guess the simplist and free way to test it is remove power cable from battery overnight, reconnect it, if still on drive for a while maybe 300-400 miles and hopefully it goes away. I hope its my Pac Steering Wheel devices since it work on the Canbus system
whatever you find let us know.
99% of the time it is the child recognition weight sensor in the passenger seat in the C and E class vehicles. Vic, all you have to do is call man, Im 15mins down the road. Text or call me sometime and Ill get it taken care of for you.

From: dayton ohio hopefully it will be some place warm and sunny when i finish med school
2002 C32 AMG silver & 2003 Lancer Evolution 8 black very moded
do you have the OEM steering wheel or an upgrade/aftermarket? the SRS sensor itself could be bad
We stock the Child Recognition Sensors at work because of how frequently we replace them. The problem with the sensor is that its basically a contact pad between the seat cover and seat pad. After time, the contacts go bad and the SRS light comes on. The system still works, but the passenger side airbag does not turn on or off when a passenger gets in and out of the seat.

This sucks it seems lately there has been some more new common problems..well ever since the "srs" light was cleared well it hasn't returned (knock on wood). I did see today that "display" warning go to work shop but it went away...as for your problem have an MB tech put it on SDS machine so all the components can be tested..it may be simple or complex
