Code3 heat exchanger = the product that exchanges the heat to help reducing the IAT manufactured by Code3. Make sense? jk...jk

Look at Code3's site or EuroChagered's site to have an idea what it looks like.

edit: I am guessing your next question will be what the johnson pump is for jk

It's not technically the same as an intercooler, but for the C32's achieves much of the same effect. It helps cool down your Air Intake Temperatures(IAT's) which in turn will give you more power, more consistent power(when your engine heats up) and gain efficiency.

On our cars, it is very common, almost guaranteed that your Intercooler pump will go bad which feeds the Heat exchanger. Many people tend to buy an aftermarket one made by Johnson that tends to cost less and pump out more coolant, again making an effort to make your intake charge cooler.

Code3 and LET both make aftermarket Heat Exchangers larger than the stock/OEM one. Which one is better is a toss up, but LET has a reputation for first class service and no BS. Code3's record as of late has been less than stellar.

If you have no mods so far, I would recommend either an intake or pulley first.

My HE (from LET, now Eurocharged) needed minor modification, along with some minor drilling - nothing difficult. The Code3 HE allegedly bolts right up (if you can get one).

Best of luck - search for Splinter's DIY thread on the heat-exchanger R&R job, it's top notch.

Ah, my bad... it's been ~ a year since I'd used it myself - just assumed it was here (forgot it was at one of the other benz forums).

nah its pretty easy. The code3 heat exchange bolts right up to the 4 bolts under the support beam..like it belonged there stock. I would say just follow spinter's diy. while your at it, i would replace the intercooler pump as well.
