I know when I drag race if I shift 500 rpms before redline instead of shifting at redline I run faster so I am interested in why you would like to raise it? Are you aiming for sound, performance, both?

Higher rpms do not always mean faster. I had a Motorsport-tuned euro 635CSi years ago that used to yield the fastest end of the straight speeds at driving schools shifting at 5,200 rpm (redline was 6,200 rpm or something like that). I don't know what kind of a cam they put in it, but it could outrun 911SCs without trouble.
I kind of doubt that a C55 would benefit from a higher redline. It's not a highly tuned engine in relative terms, it's performance comes mainly from being really large displacement in a relatively light car. You'd have to look at cams, exhaust and ignition mapping to get the most out of a higher redline. You would most likely also lose some of your mid-range.

There's typically no gain to be had by raising the redline unless, as the other posters said, you've modified your car to the point that it's making power past the redline of the stock motor.
The ideal is to upshift right past peak horsepower, with the rpms falling to right below peak torque, thus keeping the powerband in right between peak torque and peak power.

in the clk55 and c55 the redline is 6700, but in the slk55 the redline is 6200, so i wonder is there a huge difference or not or which is better.

Well-I find it hard not to chime in on this one-as your username states-at 500hp and 700tq-my guess is that you have a car that is heavily modified-so no, you wouldnt want to mess with the tune it has now....at 500hp and 700tq......

Whoops! Didn't see that. Either way, unless you're bumping up against the rev limiter and still haven't reached peak power, there's no benefit to raising the limiter.

It's great to have goals and we all love hunting for more power, but it would make more sense if you made it clear this was a GOAL and not an actual claim.

If you're talking about raising the powerband higher (i.e. peak power is achieved at, say, 6,500rpm vs. 5,500rpm), then that's typically achieved with a power-adder such as cams, headwork, a blower, etc., in which case, you'd need a custom tune which may raise the rev limiter, assuming peak power is made above the stock levels.
