Looks nice! Only observation - no COMAND. Not sure if that matters to you or not.

I don't like how big they are, and i love how the C55's drive. I'm strongly considering putting a 75 or 100 shot on it . IMO that will be much more fun than an E55.

Yes, .5 miles away in my C32 (which equates to about 21 seconds at velocity Vmax), Only downside to the C55 is the lack of ability to mod save a Kleemann and maybe some intake (KN etc) work. The 55 is a great engine, BUT very costly to mod. I have both engines and the C32 (Kompressor) is much easier to make "go fast."

Unless you are planning on raod racing it, I would STONGLY recomend an E55 my friend. Granted the milage is low, which is a Good thing, but for that amount of doe, Think E55.

It will Run circles around a C55, sorry guys, but facts are facts

You can ALWAYS put a pulley+tune for another 50HP

And you can actually seat four in comfort, something poorly lacking in the C class, I know I had a C32.

Plus, I would have EXPECTED NAV for that amount of coin

Good luck with your search, just keep in mind its a BUYERS paradise right now, DON'T rush into anything and the good ones will find you

See yeah

PS: It only took me a few months to find the right S600, don't be in a hurry my friend

IMHO, a lightly modded E 55 with a pulley & Wayne-Tune will romp on a C55

I believe you can find a low mile 05 E55 for around 25-27K. You still have 3-4 grand left for decent mods you want. For 29K total, you can scare some Z06s lol.

But any car is good as long as you like it

i see his point. the e55 is a great car but its a pretty large car. some people prefer to drive smaller cars. I think the w203 is the perfect size, its big enough to seat 4 and small enough to take it in the canyons.

Precisely. I just don't want an E55, the C is just way too much fun to drive. And i don't road race, but i do live somewhere where a country road is just 10 minutes away and i do enjoy driving down curvy backroads at a high rate of speed, not exactly the E55's forte.

Also, does anyone know anything about this C55? Its got a decent amount of Renntech Mods and looks like it would be pretty sweet. Anyone know this car?

I think it is odd that someone spent money on all those mods and didnt bother with the CF air box which is a big renttech sell. Maybe they sold it before they traded it in? Might want to a little detective work to see what they did. I cant tell if that is a renntech exhaust. Maybe ask for a pic of the headers?

i think you should have a m/b inspection done first. i paid for my inspection over the fone and had the owner take it to the dealer. then the report was faxed to me. being in ill isnt much of a deal, when i decided i wanted my 32 i flew to vegas to pick it up and drove it home to tn to shake out the bugs!
another thing is fotos fotos and more fotos!. all the dings dents interior engine trunk make them earn their dollar.
the inspection is also a fantastic bargining point. mine had 2500 worth of repairs that i found the parts for less than 800 and did the work myself. he agreed to deduct the cost from the price!

If by low mileage you mean 50k+ miles and by around 25-27 you mean more like 30k, then yeah I agree with you.

That black C55 has no navi or bix...so haggle that price down! Can't go wrong with a black on black C55 IMO.

about that Auto Trader C55

Renntech does not make an exhaust for the C55. Maybe if it was in their FLA headquarters they would make you and exhaust on a custom level but they do not sell a muffler or exhaust pipes for a C55 other than headers.

However they did offer renntech exhaust tips at one point.

Also Renntech does not currently have a TCU tune for the C55, they may however very soon but as of right now they do not offer it. Otherwise I would have it.

There is not Renntech airbox (part of a stage 1) Lots of dealers dont like to split up the stage 1 kit.. Some do and will but you buy them both as a package deal.
As for this car having headers, a quick pic of the motor will tell the tail as to what headers this car has.

I just dont see how someone who shell out for a renntech tune and headers only and choose to skip the airbox (maybe it was sold or taken off before the sale).

That raises an other question. If the car was tuned for a stage 2 (airbox headers and tune) and now it has no airbox the car "might" be running rich if the airbox was taken off.

My guess is: This is just a C55 with maybe a renntech tune and a badge. I would question all other claimed mods. I'm going to guess also it may just have a res-delete.

I went to look at this car a few days ago and it was all beat up looking along with the rest of their cars(which are all auction cars). The guy looked for about a half hour for the keys then finally gave up and said they need a few days to find the keys. Kind of a sketchy place if you ask me. All of their cars there look pretty badly kept up with and I couldn't hardly get anyone to help me out with looking at the car, I was ready to buy if car was clean too. Im sure they have some good cars but just FYI i thought the place/cars were all pretty sketchy.

I'd stay away from a used rust belt car. Too many clean cars out there right now to settle for one that is not perfect. Also, you'll miss the COMAND and Bixenon. At least I know I would.

I talked to the owner of the dealership today and I am almost positive that he said he went to Florida to buy the car, so that could be some sort of Renntech fab-up but who knows (although he was raving about how good it sounds). He also said he had a friend at Renntech (I believe he even named a name but i dont remember), and said he called him and asked him how to figure out what all it had, but he could have been blowing smoke. The airbox thing is also interesting, i didn't notice that.

Im going to the dealership in the morning and the guy that sold me my first one said he'd look up the VMI on the car . That way he can see records of everything a Mercedes dealership has done to the car so hopefully that will answer some questions. I may be PM'ing you

Oh, and Renntech has a transmission upgrade on the website for a C55(Page 9 of the W203 catalog). Do they not offer that anymore?

That car in IL seems waay overpriced, wait it out, you will find a loaded one for much less. My 06 with all options except black birdseye maple w/35k was less than that asking price OTD.

The transmission upgrade is clutch packs not a TCU tune. Clutch packs on the C55 IMO and even Renntech's, is useless unless the car is putting down over 400whp. With out the supercharger kit it just isnt needed.

I would get down on the ground and look at the exhaust system ans see whats up. Act like you know renntech mods and the C55 like no one else. I will bet the price will begin to drop once you start asking questions.

Take some pics with your cell phone or something and post them up.

Dont get we worng I'm just trying to help you from a salesman trying to pull one over on you. Name drop if you have to. Tell them you have been in contact with Ken Rudy at Renntech (a personal friend of mine.) Dont be afraid to call Renntech directly they can answer all the questions you have about this car too.

Remember Renntech headers will be stainless steel.

You should find one with a command unit... It makes the ride look a lot nicer from the outside / in
