Question Rim Purchase HELP!

Alright so ever since i saw these rims at the local MB dealership i have been wanting them sooooo badly

A new Sponsor has come around and offered these reps, which look just like the ones i want ever so much.

Question is... will the 8.5/9.5 widths not work with my 235/40 & 255/35s? also will they fit around the breaks/offset? Thanks in advance for any help

Not really sure, but I thought SL's and C classes had a different offset, but if what he is saying is correct they should fit being AMG reps they should clear the calipers expecially since he states they are ok on SL55's which have a lot bigger calipers. How much is he charging for them?

I bought a set in 18s with the same width and same offset for my CLK55 W209 from the same vendor and the quality is great. I got them today and will install them tomorrow.

As for the tires, the correct tires for these are 245/40/18 and 275/35/18. You can go with the tires you've mentioned but they will be stretched. Some people dont mind it, I dont care for stretched tires as much. you can also go 255/35 and 295/30 for beefier tire (think track oriented looks) however this might rub if you're lowered.

I will take pics once they're installed

Good to know they should be fine if you can fit them on your CLK since they have the same fitment. I would probably change the tire size too. I am sure those tires were not cheap so take them out to willow springs and tear them up on the track

I think you can fun 235-40 and 265-35 as well, they wont look stretched just a little bit. I was deciding between these and the ones i'm putting on now... I came from an S2000 and I hate stretched tires lol...

I DON'T COME HERE ANYMORE
If they are decent materials-I'd def strech a set of R comps on there for the track to beat up on (and still look pimp-well, as pimp as a white joo can )

updates...

Ok so the result is... rims were not installed as I need a few modifications.

1. Spacers for front 5mm and rear 10mm (in your case 5mm for rear). Reasons: rims rubbed against control arms and very close to the amg calipers. The spacers will help resolve both rubbing issues. My guess is the offset of 35mm is too high. These rims would have been perfect if the offset was in the 20's.

2. They sent me the wrong lug nuts, 14mm instead of 12mm. I spoke with the vendor and they're sending the new nuts tomorrow. They're a great vendor to deal with. The rims are in very high quality and I love the finish.

3. My spacers are gonna cost me 150 bucks, $50 for the front set and $95 for the rear.

Alright last question. The stock C55 rims are as follows:
7.5J x 18 ET 30 (front offset 30mm)
8.5J x 18 ET 34 (rear offset 34mm)

These are 35mm offset all around. Will this help fitment around the brakes/rotors, seeing how they will fall further out of the fenderwall?

Im almost considering taking the vendor up on the offer to ship one rim to me and have it test fitted(i figured i would get the front 18x8.5)

those are wayyyyy oversize.

correct tires on the 18" on 203/209 should be 225/40/18 and 255/35/18.

I'm running 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 and these are the maximum you can run as they are slightly larger already.

they're fine as long as you don't run coilover and keep the tires 225/40/18 up front. rear offset is normal.

235 and 265 are fine but conservative. wider tires are only for big boys

this is the 203/209, not the 211/230/220.

like i've said, those are wayyy oversized. the overall diameter is way off which will throw off the speedo even further.

feel free to prove me wrong. http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

Most here would hardly consider FrankW to be a “conservative” or dilettante member.
He has installed at least a half-dozen different wheel and tire variants on his.

I’ve no proclivity toward brown nosing, but the man is a rightfully acknowledged expert on W203 wheel sizes, offsets, and their proper tire fitment.
Any rubbing or interference is passé and to be avoided in any instance, IMHO.

If you’ve successfully installed the “big boys” with nary an issue…

the difference in diameter from 265 to 275 is 3/12th inch. You guys sure are professional. I personally don't like stretched tires and I think it serve no purposes besides preventing rubbing. You guys go ahead with the stretched tires while my tires will look more aggressive and beefier.

265 on 9.5 are not even stretched. what in the world are you talking about.

just FYI, 10mm spacer for your 9.5 rear with ET35 will bring the offset to ET25 which will be flush and/or poking out of the fender. with the fact that for whatever reason you believe 275/35/18 will fit, your tire will rub against the fender.

the 8.5 ET35 with 5mm spacer brings it to ET30. with normal size tire 225/40/18 and slightly oversized 235/40/18. people already experience rubbing on the front fender and wheel liner as well, with 245/40/18...

either way, you've been warned about the proper setup. don't come running and crying when you have problems with it.

So, how well is that big boy configuration working on yours?
