Auto Leveling, Do You Really Need It?
i am replacing my halogens for the bix's on my 05 C55. It didnt come with the auto leveling parts, which i can get from Steve at MBNL for $650. Do i really need the auto leveling feature or do i go ahead and drop the $650 for the parts and get it installed? Anything else i need to know going from halogen to bix's besides the code? thanks.

Its nice, and frustrating at the same time-the leveling sensor is located/bolted to the front sway bar (I found that out after my swap, and my headlights lit up 5' of road)-are you replacing housing and all-or just adding the bulbs?-just the bulb set up-I'd think you can get pretty darn close by hand for level-

It's not necessary, it's just a cool feature to have. I replaced my halogen with factory xenons and once you adjust them to the right settings, you will not have to adjust them again. I'm sure lots of people on the forum will tell you the same thing. Oh, and I heard that it's a pain in the *** to install with the auto leveling feature. Good luck!

you dont need them...there are a lot of cars that come with hids stock without auto leveling. s2000's, prius, mazda3, rx8 just to name a few. just make sure there properly aimed.

Very true-the only advantage to the auto leveling is when there is a heavy load in the back and that may point the front nose a little high, at that point, the system puts the light back on the road, not at drivers eyes-if the OP plans and having nothing more then 100#'s in the back end-you could skip it altogether-if more at times, (and you'll be driving at night-maybe towing boat? I want to see that)-it could/should be considered-

All you have to do is shine your halogens on a garage door and remember where the lines are and then try to manually adjust the xenons to the same settings. I had another c32 next to mine and we adjusted it to the same settings as the that one, so it was pretty easy.

2005 C55
Ok i was going to ask about this. I just bought a replacement C55 for the one that was totaled. Well a few weeks ago the guy i bought it from had to replace the headlight because it got cracked, and i guess he just hasnt driven it at night since then because the light pretty much points at the ground. How do i go about fixing this? Can i do it myself? Sorry im a moron..

auto level is hardly notable in day to day driving. front sensor connects to the front sway bar and the rear sensor connects to right rear suspension arm. when you do a lot of hills, turns, etc. it plays somewhat a difference. with that said, I wouldn't worry about it if i don't already have it.
