first time at the drag strip

with the c55.

I ran a best of 13.16, with my times varied from that all the way to 13.5 depending on how well I launched it.

On the right was a supercharged mustang cobra, but it had a bad launch that run. The previous run he had pulled a 12.8.

I had 1/2 tank of 92 octane gas, 19" heavy tsw bremmas with bf goodrich gforce's in the back with not much tread left.

Mods include res/secondary delete, k&n and i believe a LET tune. Not bad time for those mods? I wanna break into the 12's!!!!!!

Great times for never going to the strip before. I bet you can hit a 12.9 without doing anything else to the car with more practice.

Now i defintely know that I can break into the 12's.
He has the same Mods as me besides the Let Tune.
And i got 13 flat.
With the secondard cats deleted and removing some wait I should be at the barrier of 12.9 maybe 12.8..
Only one way to find out.
Track!!!
Anyone want to go to the track this Sunday?
Morroso?

Well the previous owner never mentioned he had a tune but after digging through this board for a while I found out that he used to post and saw that he wrote LET tune as part of his modifications in his signature.

I believe our C55's have a 155mph limiter correct? On the dyno, at the end of 4th gear I got up to 160mph, and the engine was running a little lean at the lower rpms and rich at the high rpms; tell tale traits of an ecu tune correct?

So, the question is: Do you guys think I can break into the 12 second range if I downgrade to 18" wheels (less rotating mass)? That's probably the cheapest way to get more power to the ground at this point before I do headers.

I need to join the 12 second club!

Did you have the factory 17 or 18" rims when you ran a 13.0x? If those amg style wheels are 19", they might slow you down a tad I would like to believe.

I have the stock 18" c55 rims.
At the time When i went to the track the only thing i had done was resonator delete.
And it was 13.04 to be exact.

Nice! Sounds like you got a factory freak. Are those new amg reps 19" or 18"s? I wonder if I can get 13.0 flat to 12.9x if I downgrade to 18"s and just have more practice launching at the track.

well when i go to the track in any car, i remove everything from my trunk, the cover, spare, jack, all the plastic if there is any. Then i take out about 10-15psi from my rear wheels to get more grip.

What did you end up running? Mods? I left the tires at normal psi...I didn't bring a gauge with me :-/

The only thing I took out was my spare tire; I wanted to see what I could run as-is without taking stuff out and running semi-slicks.

Nice runs, if you can get your reaction down and perfect your launch you should be in there. I'm getting my stock AMG 18's fitted with some track tires for going to PIR. they will help with the drags to. The stock rims aren't to bad on the weight. Did you run Traction control on or off?

I ran with it off. I made the mistake off running on dyno mode my first launch and it started in 2nd gear and wouldnt downshift until the first 60 feet or so, so I ran a 14.5 my very first launch lol.

I guess its time to find some lightweight 18"s and maybe even a pair of 17"s with mickey semi-slicks for the track!

with that set up i drove a stock G37 at the track with 13.5 where everyone else with the same car not doing everything i did ran 13.8-14.1.
i will be doing the same in my CLK550 when i am at the track.

I have yet to race another c55 to see how I do. I wish I lived again in seattle to bring my car there and test the cars out. Last time i went to the track i didnt peel out at all.
I had it in S mode 1st gear brake and gas to 3500 rpms.
light turned green i let go of brake and floored it.
The are Amg 19 inch. c63 replicas.

Nice runs. You just need to practice launching and you'll be in the 12s.

Wow, what kind of tires did you have on your stock 18"s? I have bf goodrich gforces and they suck hard. If I mash the pedal in first I ALWAYS spin out if esp is turned off...

Speaking of launching how did you launch anyways? Do you brake torque? Just step on it?
