Talking Dealership strikes again.

Ok so I went to the to qet a quote for a fuel filter cause for some reason they said i needed one. anyways I asked the parts guy he said that would be $330.00 i was like i went to shucks autoparts they said $130.00 i was going to get it. i was happy i would have saved money they didnt have any in stock so i went to AUTOZONE and they said $39.00 so from $330.00 to $39.00 i went to my local shop they charged me $30 dollars for install i looked at both the filters the look the same to me exept it didnt have the mercedes sticker on it ( even the welds looked exactly alike) its there something the stealership know about filters that i dont ? maybe the sticker was supposed to give me an extra 5HP l lol just playing.

becarfull of the autozone parts.. they are not the same. 100 sounds about right if you shopped around. i have seen those auto zone ones clogg up and also clogg injectors from poor filtering. I wouldnt trust my $$ eng to a 39 pos filter

And also that fiter has the regulator built in so if it leaks or malfuctions it could cause problems

Good luck

It could have been worse, from what I understand from studying the parts guide the C55 doesn't have a separate filter, you have to buy the fuel pump/level sensor unit at around $750.

The C55 filter is a $$$$$$$. IIRC, retail at the dealer is about 650, just for the part. Install is even worse since it is in the fuel tank which requires removal of the rear seats to access. Ugh.

It could be even worse, from what I heard a Peoples Republic of California last generation 3-series BMW requires replacing the entire fuel tank assembly to replace the filter. It has something to do with fugitive vapor emissions.

You think yours is bad? Just got off the phone and they want $2230.00 to repair my left headlight. It stopped working after the truck tire hit it. Most likely its the ballast, but they wont clame it was part of the tire hitting and they want to replace the whole unit. Mercedes has a repair bullitin to install a new part for only $300. But they haven't heard of that????

First off you can take paper towels and pack them in a coffee can and use that as a fuel filter for all i care... i was just giving you fist hand experience of what ive seen happen when cheap parts are used. I never said "performance depends on price" i said shop around and ive seen fuel filters for about 100 bucks on part websites and i think that is fair. With all the cars you own your sounding kinda cheap!!!! i bet you go to jiffy lube for oil changes to and midas for exhaust work... pinch those pennies man ill just look for fair prices for oem parts i belive there the best

I have to agree with the majority of the posts here.. Autozone parts are not the same. Close but not the same. For arguments sake, why don't you keep us posted as to how the Autozone filter works for you. Does it leak, etc.. We'd be interested in knowing. One additonal question, is your MB currently under an extened manufacturers warranty? Reason being, if it is and there's a problem, you probably won't be covered. Just a thought. Good luck!

reading the first replies I thought he had a C55 the filter for the C32 from MB is only $130 don't know why the dealer would charge you 330. I would never use after market filters for anything in my car. Just look at the people who used the green filters for their car and had them break apart and get sucked into their intake.

Turned out after doing some trouble shooting we found the ballast module out. Just swapped bulbs then ballast and that told us what it was. But nothing close to $2230.00 like the one dealer wanted. By the way it was another dealer that helped, so there are good dealers out there. Looking at around $600.00 ish through dealer but lots available through other means. These come on all the European cars so you can get them by running the Bosch number to save some money. As far as filters go you can find some european parts places that carry the exact filters either Bosch or Mahle to replace with. I even found a Mahle oil filter at Napa once. They guy didn't even know the company and sold it to me for less then the Napa filter.

top speed is electronically limited to 155mph from factory, unless you have aftermarket tuning done. the only pulley that engages/ disengages is the supercharger pulley. it may be cutting off supercharger due to high intake air temps, may be due to a bad intercooler pump.

top speed i was surprised when i passed 155mph myself it was my first time on a road that was straight for atleast 10 miles in the midle of the desert (highway 95 in nevada) i bought the car used and the guy claimed o to 60 in 4.6 sec i dont know any upgrades he did i do know de dealership told me that there was something out of the ordinary about my fuel mapping. anyways so what you are telling me is that my pulley is shot or is about to take a **** ? the pulley im talking about is right next to the sc i think its called the sc tentioner pulley when i looked at it the bearing seemed to be going in and out momentarly like it was engaging and disengagin. on thing i have noticed with the car is that if i gradually step on the gasit will get up to speed but if i slam on it it would stall and rpm stays around 3400 rpm anybody knows what can cause that ?

Out of curiosity, wouldn't coffee filters make more sense than paper towels in a coffee canister?

If you tried it in Arizona you'd have about 27 photo radar van tickets waiting for you when you got home. Then again, to do it you'd have to do laps as there aren't any 120 mph stretches that are that long.

I bought a fuel filter at an auto parts store before for a good price when I had a c class (around $55). I made sure it was original equipment, same brand and everything, but just no MB sticker.
