is a c320 throttle actuator compatible with a c32?
Hey guys, after i wrapped up the exposed engine wire. I'm still getting the esp error where the car would go into limp mode.
The theory behind the fix is either the throttle body actuator or the throttle harness.
Well guys...i confirmed that the c32 throttle actuator harness is directly tied into the engine harness and not replaceable without completely replacing the engine harness.
The dealership gave me a estimate of $1400 to replace the engine harness.
so i'm thinking about just replacing the throttle actuator since its a bolt on replacement.
Instead of paying $800 for new one. I was wondering if anyone know if the c320 is compatible with ours. I've seen them on ebay for $160-250. It looks exactly the same as the c32 one.

Personally, I wouldn't risk buying a used one as it may have the very same problems. And I don't think they're the same anyways.
I had mine rebuilt by BBA Remanufacturing for $400 and they have a lifetime guarantee. The main downside is that there's about a 2 week turnaround time.
I don't get Limp mode anymore, but like a hiccup at WOT throttle. I'm replacing the harness to the actuator this week too.
Good luck brother!

By looking at the bolt pattern, it looks like it fits just fine.
The C32 Bosch unit does not have "AMG" stamped on it. Usually, AMG specific components comes with the AMG logo somewhere...
I think I have a similar problem... my car is not idling the way is supposed to.

well... i had those CEL, limp issues and usually disconnect the throttle body harness and blow compress air to it. NOt that it matters.
But soo far I had no issues with it since. I guess its a ticking time bomb.

Mercedes quoted me 7hrs to do. I was able to take out the supercharger and intercooler in 3-4hrs with hand tools, no engine hoist and without knowing what i'm doing...

anyways...i took off the manifold to double check the part number.
the part number i have right now is A 113 141 01 25. It looks like the c320 part number is A 112 141 01 25. I'm not sure if mercedes just added the 3 to make it different since they like adding different part numbers even though its the same item.
anyways i put in the c32 part number int parts.com...and look what i got... WTF.
i'll double check the part number with mercedes...if they change it to a new one.

If you replace your TB and have it off, maybe you can take a few pointers from Waldig:

update *
i decided to take another look and i studied the cable i bought. Lesson of the day is, dont believe the dealership. Mercedes Anahiem hills said i bought the wrong cable and wasn't compatible with the c32.
I learned the throttle harness i bought doesn't replace the original one, but is a extension of the original. It connects to the original harness then to the throttle body.
I attached the new throttle cable and i'm still getting the esp issue.
I read in the older mercedes with the drive by wire, the heat from the engine starts to deteriorate the throttle harness and causes shorts.
I'm going to try to directly wire the original harness to the new one instead of using the connectors.

The old throttle actuator part number is A 113 141 01 25.
The replacement throttle actuator is S 112-141-03-25.
The throttle actuator cable A 113 150 00 28

Does anyone know the reason why the M113K TB doesn't fit our cars?
For example...

I could be wrong, but I think it doesnt fit because of the big black glued on case on the side of the TB.

is the e55 tb a 74mm or 80mm? i think the harness would connect. My new throttle harness looks exactly the same...it just connects to the original oem harness.

dang..i see. Well i just bought a c320 actuator for $100. i'm going to give it a shot and see if it works.
i did some research on some of the older drive by wire actuators. Apparently in the late 90's early 2000 mercedes have a defect where the heat from the engine apparently deteriorates the wires in the soloniod and harness eventually causing shorts. The shorts causes the esp error since the esp is linked to the throttle actuator.

basically i get a esp error...the supercharger disengages and the car won't down shift when i accerlate. I can still manually down shift with the tip tronic but no supercharger.

I had a really bad experience and I can tell you that the throttle body of C320 doesn't fit C32.
My C32 had the throttle body problem 2 yrs ago, my car went to limp home mode and only can run at idle speed. I sent my car to the workshop, near to my home and the mechanic replaced both throttle body and pedal for me, but the problem still occur.
I visited the workshop for over 20 times in 6 mths, trying to found out what's wrong with my C32, but the mechanic still has no idea. I finally gave up and tried another workshop with DAS. The new workshop told me that the stupid workshop I visited before fitted a C320 throttle body and pedal on my C32 and they didn't even re-program the new parts to calibrate with the ECU of my car. So everytime I stepped all the way down the pedal, trying to fully open the throttle body, the ECU detected the signal is over-loaded, and will turn my car into limp home mode.

here's a update...
it looks like the old part number still works. I bought a new throttle actuator from a s500 2002-2005 with the same part number as the c32 from ebay for $300. I would suggest to people they buy the old part number its still offered on parts.com for $500 instead of $1k for the new part number.
As reference the c320 throttle body does work but its smaller at 68mm compared to 74mm with the c32.
I bolted everything in, but i'm still having a erratic idle. When i put in D or R, it runs perfectly. But if i let it idle...it revs to 2k then slowly goes down and when it hits 1k..it gets stuck reving between 800rpm to 1k like its going to stall. Then it throws a esp error again.
I dont think its the actuator anymore. Maybe a misfire? i read some people fixed there errantic idles by changing out the spark plug wires. I'm currently at 96k.
Any suggestions people?
