Thanks again.

While I was doing a search for the part number read in a few threads that people where having problems with there fogs cracking from road debris so they were putting some type of 3m film over there new set to prevent it from happening again

Wow, what a lazy service employee if he didn't want to look it up without a VIN. You should've asked to see his manager, "maybe your manager knows how to use the system".

you can buy them direct from hella now for about 45 each. ive broken about 6 in two years. if you have them on in the rain, they will break. its the cold water on the hot lens that does it...youll end up with a circular crack on the center of lens itself.

Sorry I didn't get back, I was trying to pack for a trip Im on. I had a question on the pricing of the original c55 versus going with the new style lights. The new lights on the W204 will fit if you swap the plug housing. The pins just come out of the old plug housing and insert into the new one. then just install the lights. there is a left and right light though.

Thanks that is good to know. Especially since I don't have to go back to the dealership to deal with them for this issue.

No problem your were enough help on getting me the bumper and shipping it quick. I don't have any fogs at all remember I don't have a c55 so will need to go the hella route. I'm glad I can get them from hella and not pay dealer pricing.

Thanks everybody for your imput and help

I need to buy one new fog as well. Does anyone know off-hand the price at the dealer? If it's over ~$65, I'll just get it from the vendor in the link instead.

I just ran into the same problem. My dealer wanted $249, so I told them to get lost because that was robbery. I bought mine from the link, but they are out of bulbs, but you can get those anywhere.

Sorry to bring my thread back but need help and didn't want to start a new one. I purchased the hella fogs from the link listed and is there a boot of some sort that should go on to the back of the fogs for water proofing. Like I stated in my first post I don't have a c55 just a modded bumper and spent two trips to the parts department with many different answers. With the last guy saying it doesn't have a boot not saying I dont believe him just think it was a last resort since he couldn't find what I was looking for. The easiest way I can describe it there is 2 prongs coming out the fog in the back with no cover. Thanks

The fogs on these seem a bit of a joke. Mine really don't light up much of anything. Has anyone seen a driving-light version of the hella lamps?

I've also read someplace that there's a wider angle lens available for the active headlight option that we don't get in the states. I'd like some light thrown out to the sides when turning at lower speeds. Has anybody heard of such a thing?

I actually find that the stock fogs do very well at lighting up the immediate foreground of the car. Of course, this it somewhat moot since you want a lot of light ahead of you, not in front of you. But as said, they are fog lights, not driving lights.

As for the light up the sides question, I don't remember if it was on option on the W203, but there are some fog light setups that have the fog in the outer corners of the fog grill area, pointing towards the left and right sides of the car. So when you would make a turn, the fog light in that direction would briefly turn on and then turn back off.

I have the active fog light function activated on my car, but find that with the far brighter and whiter xenon lights they don't add much.

In contrast, I recently had a Honda Civic rental car with xenon headlights that's fog lights threw a lot of light out at something like 45 deg to either side. I found it a lot easier to find curbs and whatnot.

I believe the new 204 round fog lights fit the c55, you would just have to change the plug end. They are cheaper then the c55 ones. But I have already cracked one of my new ones.
