BOTCHED EUROCHARGED H/E BRACKETS

Went to mount the Eurocharged Heat Exchanger today. Not happy with mounting. Mounts do not lay flat against curved bumper beam. Anyone, how did you attached their product to your vehicle?

I think that since these H/E's are used for both the C32 and the SRT6, they can't bend the brackets perfectly to fit one or the other. So they mount them to the H/E flush and then need some massaging on install...

Like stated above, its designed for multiple vehicles. Hammer is not really needed. Drill a hole ir use self tapping screws and the brackets will hold just fine. I have seen a lot worse fitting products than this made for Mercedes vehicles.

When installing mine, the lower brackets were very twisted, as was the one upper one (mine had only one upper mounting tab - driver's side). I found that wrapping them in a MF towel and tweaking them a bit with some pliers worked wonders to get everything lined up properly - swinging a hammer's probably overkill, IMHO.

Had to then drill a bit on the lower areas, used some Grade 8 nuts and bolts with locking washers there, and a self-tapping screw into the bumper crash bar (I already had the hardware). Seemed pretty sturdy when all said and done - YMMV.

EDIT: by "ready to mount" I'm sure they're just differentiating from the cheaper "generic" heat exhangers you can buy online, but require some extra work to have the mounting points welded on.

What are you so angry about? Look how many people have had great success with this H/E. It took more time for you to take the bumper off or make this thread than it to bend the bracket a little and use some self tapping screws.
Im sure if we can the Eurocharged guys to add a note to the site that says "Some slight modification needed when installing" or "Professional installation suggested" if its to much work.

Ill leave your thread now, sorry if I came across sounding like an a$$

Grade 8 hardware? Should stay fastened just fine.

lomita, many here have installed aftermarket heat exchangers. Some minor fabrication is to be expected during fitment. Certainly that’s not beyond your capabilities. A ‘custom’ install helps to make the task that much more rewarding. Ensure the circuit is properly of its residual air to fully exploit the upgrade.

Be heading back to Irwindale’s ‘strip next month. Care to join us?

in comparison i think the code3 one is better since it just directly just bolts on to the four large bolts under the crash bar.

lol......not only zipties. i just didnt feel comfortable with the drilling part and the way it sat there. in addition to the nuts, bolts and washers i used, i use some serious extra strength thick zipties. i mean, we're talking possibly a cm or so wide and very strong haha. but no, not ONLY zipties

Well, to be fair, my Code3 required a little elbow grease as well

And, there was NO mention of the relocated washer lines for the headlights, until AFTER I told Brandon about them. Again, an easy fix, but TRUELY NO bolt on.

Nevertheless, it is a good piece of hardware, that ANYONE here even thinking of modding SHOULD be able to install, IMHO.

Eurocharged Performance ML63 and TT lambo
Use the self tapping screws and the flexible aluminum will fall right into line.

I have had mine for a couple of years and over 30,000 miles with no problems.

Don't anticipate any problems.

FYI - the hardware was/is a nice assorted "Grade 8 Metric Hardware kit" from Autozone... nothing fancy, and only a couple bucks, but handy to have around.

I think Woody/Waldig of the SRT-6 world secured his larger, heavier "supercooler" with ONLY professional-grade zip ties - don't believe I've seen him post any problems with that arrangement, either.

From what I gather, the C3P HE is a bolt-on solution if you don't have headlight washers... but as you learned and informed everyone () there's some added work if you've got 'em. Some may also appreciate it's allegedly fully-reversible without any evidence of the install left after. The EC one requires some minor drilling, but nothing too severe. They both function appropriately, given a proper install is done, and appear to both be high quality units.

i see...i didn't know about the headlight washer issue. since my didn't come with any. I like the code3 one since it only took 2min to install, but i do admit i had to wait 4wks to get mine.

Yeah, I like the idea of the drain valve on the eurocharged / LET unit, but the ease of install convinced me to buy the C3P unit. It did take Brandon a few weeks to get it to me, but I can't complain because it's been sitting in my living room for a month.
