License plate light screws
I need new screws that hold is the plastic piece for the license plate lights. These little *******s were a pain to get out and they were stripped. Does the threading really matter on these and I can just get something close at Lowes/Home Deport or not? If the threading matters what's the pitch and where can I get them other than the dealer?

Just go to the dealer and ask for a set. If one is not near by, order them online through one of these part vendors.
No need to fear the dealer, it's not the reaper.
If the rivets are stripped they need to be replaced too, this happened to my 01 CLK55, and my 01 ML55. The dealer did the CLK55 for free, but I had everything apart already all i needed was the rivet replaced. The second time with the ML, I just had the dealer replace them. Cost was $120.00.

I would suggest that you try your local yellow pages and look under fasteners. I would think most major cities would have a specialist fastener shop that should be able to find something comparable for you. The large box stores typically only have the most common sizes of fasteners, but for the really small or really large items, one needs to source through a specialist.

This thread is way old, but if anyone else runs into this problem, I've found #6 5/8" black dichromate screws at Lowe's work. Stainless were not available in 5/8" at my local Lowe's.
