Anyone tried this grille on a C55?

I do not like the factory grille on these cars, but I think the CLK style grille looks much better with the wider grille on these as compared to the standard W203s. While searching eBay, I found this grille. What does everyone think about this? Would anyone with good Photoshop skills mind putting it on a black C55?

Obviously though I would still need to locate a CLK hood release and grille support for this to bolt on.

I was actually just thinking about doing this same thing. Very interested in finding out the answer. I kind of like the obnoxiously large emblem haha

Awesome, thanks for those. I stopped looking on eBay after I found one that shipped from the US! I think I'm definately going for this one. Looks really good with the factory mesh on the bumper. I can get the safety catch and mount from getmercedesparts.com for $30.

that looks pretty sick actually!

I was looking at the SL's and love their one wing across their grills and was wondering how that would look on our cars. Someone hurry up and buy it!

Would you happen to have the part number for the safety catch, and will I need anything else other than the catch to install the grill? Thanks.

Not handy, but if you look in the catalog on getmercedesparts.com you'll find it. Just look up a 2005 CLK.

You know what? I've never liked the CLK grills but After looking at AMGMIZ's pics, I jst might have to change my stock on with the ebay one above...

Great lookin car AMGMIZ.

ps. How hard were they to install? Jst loose few bolts n snap on or it requires much more tasks? And Where did you get ur AMG front plate? I've been searching that for days to cover up my ugly front plate drill holes.. lol

THANKS

The grill is only held by 2 screws. you will need a hood latch kit from a clk for it to work. It takes me about 5 mins to change the grill.
The front plate is something I made up, I was also tried of the holes and Ididn't like the hole plugs.
Its a regular plate that I cut to look like the amg test car front plate

I just installed one on my Brothers CLS55, and it looked kinda stupid. There was a huge gap between the hood and the grille. Most MB's use angled slats to visually eliminate the gap look. From a distance it looks nice, but the grille's non-angled top makes the grille look to short... After we installed it. We both thought it looked dumb by exposing a huge gap between the hood and grille.

Its to bad because its a nice looking grill. It just needs to be taller.

IMHO the stock C55 grille is still the best.

Aghhh. I just look back at AMGMIZ's pictures and saw that. Not sure I like that. Is that gap not there with a factory CLK grille?

here is the gap it exposes on the CLS55. The CLS with the stock grille has this gap, but the way the slats are angled visually eliminates it. However as nice as this grille is. Your eye is drawn to the gap between the hood and grille when this grille is installed.

The think the picture of the grille on the CLK, in the ebay ad, is photoshopped to make the gap not appear.
