HP Auto Werks Delay Code3 Pulley for the 2nd time

I received an email last week from HP AutoWerks that our pulleys have been delayed yet for the second time. Now they don't even kno when they can ship, I'm starting to suspect something fishy is happening. Either their fabricator is incompetent or it is a simple production delay is beyond my guess. I ordered my piece on September 14th and its been a while. I'm really starting to lean towards getting the 185 instead. Now I've searched this entire forum and found many opinion on the crank damper which is used in our OEM crank, and haven't found any sides of the argument to lean on; some say since MB put one there in the first place, then its needed for bearing longevity, some say the v6 is well balanced and can be taken away, the reason they put one there is to reduce harmonic vibrations. So here's the question to all 185ers, do you notice any difference in additional vibrations with the 185. Would the 185 cause any engine bearing issues down the road? Its my DD now so reliability is something I have to take into consideration.

Thank in Advance!

sorry to hear about your code3/hpw problems.....sounds like a familiar problem in code3's past

the 185 is actually internally dampened (as i recollect Jake posting a while back).
i have not noticed any unusually or different vibrations with my pulley

as far as bearing issues............boohooramblers posted a thread a while back warning both stock and modded M112k owners that the idler pulley bearings are prone to failure.

i installed my 185 back in march of this year and my eurocharged idler pulley with the upgraded bearing went bad last month. i replaced a bunch of pulleys and my belt with the needswings pulley saver kit and took care of the bearing issue and preventing it from it happening again.

was it annoying the bearing only lasted ME 6 months? yes....i know others havent had issues where the bearing lasted for such a short period of time. but either way, i was going to get the pulley saver kit eventually.....and wouldnt let the idler pulley bearing failure issue prevent me from stepping up the power to a 185.

oh, and mine is my DD.

my $0.02

I also purchased the pulley combo and asked twice about shipment and even in the intial emails about being in stock. They then said "sorry it's a week late as of last week" so it should now be ready to ship if not on a plane.. but I highly doubt that.. I'm sure they got a few hits with the sale but you purchased it over a month ago that is a bit ridiculous.. I only paid for mine 2 weeks ago.

From the delay email, i counted there were 21 recipients. I ordered the very first day they were announced, you'd figure they would at least have a few pieces out. I wrote them another email asking for ETA, if its still " We are trying to get a status on our order. The minute we get one, we will let everyone know. We apologize for the delay. Thank you for your continued patience." then i'm gonna ask for a refund. Maybe destined to go 185mm hehe.

Oh when i meant bearings, i was meaning to say engine bearings :-) I do plan on getting the pulley saver kit with the 185mm seems very logical to do so.

Let me get this correct...........

You ordered a product on September 14th, and nobody can give you an ETA???? [and it is now October 26th]

That, ML500K, is a crock of 'you-know-what'.

Without elaborating on the issue, do yourself a favor and DEMAND that your paid-for product be shipped to you within one week.
If they do not comply, demand a refund.
If you haven't already, I suggest you search the C32 forum for the long, tortuous, and tumultuous past pertaining to this piece of hardware.

This is an absolute disgrace; however, nobody on this forum should be in any way surprised.
NO excuses (however personal and serious) can make up for the fact that this is simply NOT the way to do business.

This is a reply I got when I emailed a few days back..

Hi Matthew,

The website stated that the pulleys had an initial shipping date of the second week of October. We were then informed they were about a week behind. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you,

The question is when this statement was put on the website: before or after ML500K ordered his pulley?

If he ordered and paid for his pulley and this statement was on the website, then he doesn't have a case for being upset.

Sorry for the confusion and not trying to bash any vendor here.... The website did state that they will ship in Mid October and when the time came, they said it was going to be a week late. So i thought, "fine, i'll wait a week". a week passed and they send out another email saying that their fabricator delayed once again and did not tell them when the delayed ETA was. That surely alarmed me... Since I ordered that long ago, the wait for me is a little more excruciating>.<, but they actually only delayed by almost 2 weeks; not that long i kno. But my thinking was since this was a part that had previously been produced, delaying it seemed a bit odd. Had i known there was an internal damper in the 185mm, i would of just gotten that cause the website description for the 185 didn't mention that. But i guess that was my fault for not asking you folks in the first place.

I just chatted with Jerry and he even sent me some cad pics of the 185mm, ( confidential ) and there is an internal vibration damper, really cool looking stuff! I already wrote an email to demand a refund from HP Autowerks. I'm really tired of waiting...

Thanks all for the input and I'll see how long they will process the refund. But I'm really happy that they delayed it, cause now i'd rather get the 185.

cheers!

call eruocharged. i got my c3 from them used but excellent condition. maybe they have another. if not consider the 178 from them. more power than the c3 less than the 185 but the lean conditions at wot are not as evident as they are with the 185.
sucks about hp. i was hoping they would do better than the old co. but seeing as how brandon does work for them and handles the c3 orders its not surprising

I was having second thoughts about getting the 185 but was still looking up the damper/no damper dilemma. I went last night to checkout their website and they did updated this info. I used paypal to pay for the code3 pulley and right now using their resolution center to get a refund. I don't expect to encounter any issues with them, its only 480. I should be ordering the 185 real soon so they can be shipped with my headers. The waiting continues, but I feel pretty comfortable dealing with Eurocharged. The headers were ordered less than 10 days ago and now they are off for coating

Yeah, that's a no brainer. You already have a Jerry tune, so make sure you get a re-tune before you open it up with the 185. Otherwise you will for sure throw a CEL. Make sure you buy some Depends, cause with the 185 and the headers, you're gonna be crappin your pants for sure.

Pulley Code3 order delay

Today I requested a status on my Sept. 19th order (Code3 from HP Autowerks (back-door). The message below, incl. 2 pics showing parts was received immediately thereafter; here it is:

Good afternoon,

We attached two pictures just sent to us by our fabricator. They finally have all of the parts in hand and are assembling them. We were told all pulleys will be assembled by Friday at the latest, possibly sooner. We will have all of our boxes and shipping labels ready to go so that we can get them out as soon as they are in our possession. We really appreciate your patience.

Thank you,

just demand a refund. There's no point in trying to resell something you didnt even use and lose money on it.

Yeah I kno, I will write another email to HP ( which i heard is actually Brandon handling the CS ). Last thing I want right now is the package showing up at my door steps next week. How ironic... Its like he/they are trying to beat the paypal resolution deadline and say" look, i did ship the product...."

if it does show up at your door, just refuse the package and they'll send it back to sender.

Looks like i may have some perspective buyers at the crossfire forums. I kinda don't want to drag it through the whole refund process, that will take ages to complete if he/they are going to use the full duration for the dispute resolution. I worked at ebay before and i know this takes a long time, months. I'll get my money back faster, albeit "losing" some shipping fees. But no matter what, I'm a happy camper and looking forward to the 185 and other goodies coming. I did order the C3 pulley with the intake and I might want to keep that before i get the let or sl55 intakes.

HP wrote an email saying that they are willing to do a refund. I replied "Yes, refund please". I hope this gets settled quickly. the pulley by itself was 399, but i ordered with the intake. total was 450 + 30 shipping. I should know very soon if they indeed are going to refund me. I'll keep you all posted.

thanks!
