Wink Tires Feedback & Recommendation

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone can provide feedback on Firestone Primewell PZ900?
Also if you were to buy tires what do you recommend? I need to get new tires for the rear. I am trying to have a budget, new baby girl being born soon (next week or so). So I amtrying to get decent tires for a reasonable price.

thank you all!!

What are your wheel sizes?

I know for 19's Toyo T1R's are popular here.

Currently I'm running Goodyear F1 GS-D3, they are ok, I'm also running staggered setup. My next set will be Toyo T1R's.

General UHP are decent in my opinion so as Fuzion's, as long as they still have thread left, once they are worn out expect to hear road noise.

I have also heard Falken FK452's are good.

For inexpensive tires, some people say Nexxen N3000's are decent/good.

Haven't had experience with Kumho SPT, Michelin PS2's or Hankook Ventus.

I went to get tires a few months back for a new set of rear tires and I was just gonna replace the Toyo T1Rs I had on there but they told me they were discontinued. I went with the Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs instead. They were substantially cheaper than the Michelin PS2s and they did really well in a tire test a magazine did recently IIRC. They've performed great for me so far too.

For summer tires I can vouch for General UHPs. Best bank for buck IMO.

I'm currently running BS Pole Positions RE 050 and like them alot. Coming from Toyo T1R, makes a world of difference.

Ive been extremely happy with my T1Rs (I especially like now the tread pattern looks on the car, makes it look alot more aggressive)

I agree with this, but I only had experience with them on my stock C32 rims. Inexpensive but good.

did you read the car driver test? the PS2's are still the best overall tire, but there overpriced and there other tires that over near the performance of the ps2 but at half the price.

I got the hankook evo12's since they offer near the same performance as the ps2 and the dunlop but there $150 a tire and comes with a $50 rebate.

there decent tires, but the hankooks have a better steering response and they dont give out as quickly. The generals are decent for daily driving, but long periods of spirited driving...you can feel them giving out.

T1R sucks with its initial turn-in response. pros: they're quiet and last better than most performance tires. cons: overpriced and wayy too soft with the sidewall. running them is my only choice due to rear tire size issue.

Eagle F1 is superior than T1R with not much more $.

Hankook EVO V12 are on par with them with heck of a lot less $

RE050 is superior in dry, but garbage in rain AND it doesn't last that long.

PZERO is on the same level as the PS2, but has even crappier tire life. not to mention being way too expensive.

Sumitomo HTRZIII is pretty good judging from reviews and cost very little.

I have P-Zero Nero's and they're definitely a step up in grip from the old PS1's, but I'm going to try the Eagle F1's next time since the E55 guys seem to love them.

Interesting Frank, my experience with the Toyo T1R was that they were really noisy half way through (quiet for the first 5K miles). Though for the 050 I have had no issue so far with them in the rain. Actually, there was a storm here a few weeks ago and it came down pretty hard, I went through standing water with no problem while a new G35 and a lexus behind me struggle from hydroplaning.

Since you are on a budget, check out BFG kdw2s. They are great for the money. I have also had a couple sets of kumho ecsta spt's, which are even cheaper and perform pretty well.

I had a write up on them. I have been into the high 30s in Iowa and they are still great. They are best bang for buck hands down. Thanks for reminding me to send in the Rebate! They do get a little louder at low 40's

Overall - Michelin ps2 - if you what to have no doubts and can spend the money. Favorite by most reviews and customer feedback. Since I cannot test them all myself, I went with the review/feedback approach. The other things to consider is your priorities in terms of wear, dry/wet traction, road noise (and how it changes as tires age/wear)... Tirerack.com is a great place to start.

Check prices at Costco. They had the best price here in Canada anyway.

You can buy twice the amount of tires if you choose not to go with PS2's. Example:

(2) 265/35/18 Hankook Evo 12 = $360 pair (before the rebate)

(1) 265/35/18 Michelin PS2 = $360 each (from the Costco website)

I'm running Vresdestein but will switch to the newly reviewed & compared Hankooks in a month or so.

If you're looking for a great tire at a good price then Sumitomo's are worth considering. Trust me, I've tried just about every tire out there, and for the money Sumi's make a great tire. They don't get a lot of love, but they look great, they handle well (in all conditions), they're quiet, they last long, etc, etc. I can't really say enough good things.

Sumitomo HTR Z III
(Max Performance Summer)
Size: 265/35ZR18
Speed Rating “Y” = 186mph (300kph)
Price: $146 (each)

Sumitomo HTR Z II
(Ultra High Performance Summer)
Size: 265/35ZR18
Z Speed Rated
Price: $110 (each)
