This Months Gotta Read Mags
O.K. all you gearheads. Two mags you just have to read this month.
1. Motor Trend Dec 2009 with three very hot cars on the front. Tests of the Supersnake, Hennessey camaro and the Speed Factory Challenger. I was not impressed with the Super snake BUT that Hennessey sure did embarass it for less $$. Put it this way, Mikes Supercharged C55 will run with all of them. Now thats impressive!!
2. Car and Driver Dec 2009 Jag XFR vs CTS-V vs new E 63. Nice read and the results surprised me !!

Stirring the pot
I liked this months C&D too, great articles.
Not to rip on Hooley's car because I like him and I respect his C55 build-up, but I think there's some limiting factor with it. Here' what I mean: FYI, the fastest time for a BONE STOCK 2002 C5 z06 is the same as his 11.74 @119mph run. With cold-air intake and bias-ply drag radials, the record is 11.529 @ 120.21mph. This is from a stock NA 5.7L and bone stock car. No other mods, I can't stress it enough. Also realize that at 14.7psi the displacement of your engine is effectively doubled; in the case of the C55, 11Liters or 671 c.i.
There is a weight difference though, for reference:
C55 curb weight is 1632kg or 3604lbs(plus supercharger in this case)
2002 z06 curb weight is 3117lbs.
~500lbs difference. However, remember the power difference. the rule of thumb(which we won't use here, but is for reference) is 10hp extra for every 100lbs weight. That should be 50rwhp then right?
The stock 2002 z06 has 405 CRANK horsepower and most dyno between 340-350rwhp.
Mike has 480rwhp and 580rwtq this is 130rwhp more. Now I don't know what tires Hooley used on his pass but I bet they were stickier than Eagle F1's.
Something doesn't add up here, and Hooley should be running a heck of a lot faster. I think it's time for a higher stall convertor(3000rpm)?
But I digress.
My point is that regardless of MotorTrends 12.0@120mph pass, I imagine the Supersnake would walk by him as well, especially on the highway. If you read the article, it was very traction limited on it's 120mph. I would love to see a supersnake with slicks make some passes at the track.

Our you could watch it..
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...son/index.html
Those cars are fast, and in some respects faster then me.. Except that Challenger that they ended up using. I bet I can run right along with them in the 1/4 mile even with street tires. The NT05's I got just hood up well.
Most likely it was hot out and those numbers at the strip would have been better for those car.. one would think.
maybe my C55 is lighter even though I did at 100lbs to it.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Good stuff.

Forza1, Did you get forza3 yet. It rules.
With respects to a 02 Z06, I've raced one at the light and it wasn't even a close race. I raced one at the track when I was NA and got destroyed.
From a roll (65mph) it would be much closer. Its hard to pull on cars at speed. My bothers CLS55 can hang with me on the highway and I got more power and I'm lighter.
Its hard to pull at speed.
on another note I raced an Audi R8 from a roll 3 times. and all 3 times I killed it.
I think my Viper race on you tube is a good comparison of how my car would hang with those cars at Motor trend. The Viper spun the wheels and I didnt. So the end result was a W for me.

I haven't seen your vid versus the viper but I'll watch it now. Like they say, the 60' time is everything.

I had a 2002 Z06 and now have a 2005 C55 you could not pay me enough money to drive that pile of **** vette again.
