E63's MCT was great
C63's handling and seat were great
now, C63 with MCT will be the killer...

Quote: OK, I can't compete with MJ's or Phil's photographic skills. Thanks guys, those were some great shots of the event.

I do have another video, of Phil's drive in the C63 here. Since it is shot from such a distance, you really don't quite experience just how fast he was going.

Irish, it was just my opinion that the E63 felt heavy and slower than the C63. The C was more tail happy but it felt lighter and MUCH stronger than my C32. The E might have been set for the daily driver mode instead of the sport mode for my drive. As I came out of the last turn, I mashed the accelerator and got nothing back. The C is rated at 457hp while the E is 516hp, I believe. The weight difference between the two cars seems to negate the hp advantage of the E.
woah, I didn't even know you took a vid, Scott. thanks man!

I have to agree, I thought the C was significantly more fun to drive and it would definitely be my pick. I've tracked the E9x M3 and an E46 and the C63 will definitely give those cars a run for their money. Plus, I'm sure with the low end torque that it has, that it would be a better DD.

The E felt pretty heavy and I made sure it was in the proper Sport modes, etc. For some reason, after taking the E63 out for a lap, I know they revised the dynamics to make it compete with an M5, I just couldn't see it. The M5 feels sharper and gives you more feedback as your going through the turns. The problem with the E63, is that I pushed it hard and I made a critical mistake on a turn and I couldn't feel the back pull out until the end. I've made a few mistakes like that in the past in the M5 and it recovers and lets you know far better than the E63. The parking "button" on the E63 was a hoot, as well.

All in all, I think I would strongly consider a C63 with the new PP package after it gets a facelift and hopefully MCT.

Good times, gentlemen. Always enjoy catching up with the MBW gang.

+2 on the C63 delivering far better handling. Wouldn’t mind an extended roadtrip in the E though.

Personally, I would love to see that e63 in person. The magazine photos I saw were not very flattering, but it seems that from some angles the car actually looks quite nice (except for those rear tails). Does AMG have any plans to put their MCT tranny in the new c63s?

I don't know who this guy was, but he had a pretty quick run around the course on Saturday.

I posted a thread on the W211 AMG forum and a complete write up in the PL.

It was fantastic. The SLS was there, but reserved for the press and the specifically designated SLS Academy events. I did sit in the car and try to find a comfortable position, but it was a bit cramped for a 6'4" guy like me. Tommy Kendall told me if I took more time in adjusting it would work since he spent more time sitting in the car than I have and he is just as tall. He has not yet driven it however he will get his chance no doubt in the SLS Academy event.

The helmet was a prop for the photos. The helmet went to the winner of the autocross.

This was an amazing event.
