New guy here

Hey guys, I would just like to introduce myself. My name is Troy and I'm 29 years old. I just purchased an 05 C55 with 54k miles. Silver on silver with COMMAND. I have had a long list of performance cars, but this is my first venture into the wonderful world of Mercedes. The only thing the car needs is some new rubber, so suggestions are always appreciated. I am located in Milwaukee, WI. Most hobbies include cars and spending time with my wife and two kids. Anyone else located in the midwest?

Welcome! PS2's have hooked down the 1/4 pretty well for me and they stick good when it's wet.

Good to have a new member! If you like performance cars, and modifying stuff the C55 has some major potential...

C55
Welcome! My c55 was also my first venture into mercedes at the age of 25 so we're not too far off. I used to have BF Goodrich KDW's which hooked up very well but their tread life was pretty bad (then again I did a few burn outs here and there) and they were loud on 19"s. I switched to 18" wheels and i am now running hankook evo 12s which are pretty good all around and are pretty good for their price.

Welcome to the forum--and congrats on the purchase.

What were you driving before? Curious to know what brought you into the AMG fold.

I was driving a Pontiac GTO and a Lincoln LS. I got sick of having to store one car all the time since I only have a 2 car garage. The C55 is a nice mix of both cars. Most people around here drive S4's due to the weather, so I wanted something different and need 4 doors with my kids (so M3's were out) and the wife drives a Lincoln Avaitor, so we haul everything in that.

I still have the Lincoln LS to drive for the remaining of winter, so I will need winter tires/wheels for next year.do you recommend any particular wheel setup for winter? I don't want to have to get the tires swapped every season. I would rather have an extra set. Is there enough brake clearance for 17's?

Welcome! 17's are whats recommend it also says on your door jam I think the recommended size of winter tires, I forget what it is. Blizzak! I wouldn't go any other way. World of difference!
