Talking Eurocharged Teams up with ASP to create the newest generation crank pulley!

Eurocharged Performance has teamed up with ASP to co-design, co-engineer, and produce what we think is one of the best pulleys on the market.

It’s been 6 long months, and many hours of engineering work, but the end results speak for themselves.

The newest generation pulley has some design changes that will allow for an easier install, and more performance over the competition due to the lightweight material used. The 172mm pulley is 2.55 lbs lighter than the stock Mercedes pulley!

So how did this come about?

Well, last summer, Eurocharged was struggling with our current supplier to keep up with production. The pullies were leaving the shelves, and our lead time was growing exponentially. Something had to change. So, we thought who better then to talk to about pulley manufacturing then Auto Specialty Performance? A phone call was all it took, and a new relationship was formed. After countless drawing revisions, quality testing, and field testing, we feel we have really created the perfect product. ASP now fabricates and assembles all of our pullies directly at their headquarters in Stafford TX!

so the 185 is now lighter weight? what kind of gains are seen over the older, heavier 185?

Please for future reference, if you are going to post your latest/greatest product do some testing and provide some results. It will save alot of posts asking how much HP/Torque/etc will be gained with your new widget.

+1

And assuming their are any gains what would the cost be for customers with existing pullies who are looking to move to the light-weight version?

Roughtly the same as before.

Not enough to justify a change. Most of the design was internals like the clutch.

Not worth your money to upgrade. Get headers or something instead....

Harmonic balancers are heavy for a reason, to dampen the twisting of the crank as each cylinder fires. It's not like MB couldn't have just put a post with a hub bolted to it to turn the accessories, they could. The primary job of the balancer is to keep the crank twist in check. If anyone thinks I'm wrong, just google harmonic balancer and read for a while. There is a reason the elastomer gets ripped out of a harmonic balancer, if all it did was spin, it wouldn't need elastomer at all. Lighter isn't always better and the HB is one place this holds true.

Yup, good point!

This is also why we haven't made it lighter then what it is. We have been making the crank pullies for quite some time, and now with ASP in the mix we have many years combined experience and engineering with the mercedes line.

I have the Evosport pulley which is lighter then all of them. I have been running it for 7 years now with no issues. I am not going to argue as to whether the HB is necessary as it is a loosing argument no matter which side you are on. I am glad to see there is still development for these cars even though they have been out of production for 6 years now.

On my 02' Sportcoupe I had the ASP pulley, and now the C32 has Eurcharged. Glad to hear there's a partnership going on between both of these companies!

probably because they don't want to pay the vendor fee and the majority of c32, slk32 and srt6 owners are on this forum or the crossfire forum.

When I tried to post up about a Eurocharged custom dyno tune day on MyMB, not one single person was interested except for chastising me for posting on different forums. It seems to me like people are more interested in looks than performance there. I could be wrong, but that's the feel I get.

Is it a mistype, or is there a bigger crank pulley for the V8 M113 available?

172mm V8
180mm V8

If so, will it fit the M113 V8 W210 E55?

For anyone worried about the balancing of the lighter pulley, here's a video Eurocharged posted on their facebook last week:
