Sorry to hear about your loss mike-like others have said-your car was an inspiration to a lot of members here and other sites-
hitting a curb at 20-25mph did all that?!

it could have been like 35mph or something. Its hard to say. I wasnt by any means going fast... But I also wasnt looking at the speedo.. the air bags didnt go off. but that might be from the type of impact it was..

Hooley, so sorry to hear about your family member.
Extremely sorry to hear about your car, you've been an inspiration to all of us.
There is a 2005 C55 AMG with 45k on it for sale in tempe/chandler, maybe you can get that and just do some trans plants of the tranny and engine...
I hope the insurance company makes you a good deal, and if you can and they make the buy back reasonable for you I would buy back being you did so many mods to it, they give it to you dirt cheap... take what you need (engine/tranny and any other special additions) and part out the rest or keep as spares if you have room for a new C55 incase you ever need anything.
2005 C55 for sale in tempe/chandler black exterior and interior
Also if you have all the reciepts for any mods, upgrades, certain types of services and if you just got new tires bring all that up to them if they are going to total your car, as it will add value to your claim and check $$$ depending on your insurance company, I know what I gave them added more to the final claim... If not they just ask you return the car to OEM stock, which means you can take of the supercharger etc... if you can put back OEM... but sometimes thats more cost and time thans worth.
I wish you the best of luck on this.
Had a bad accident a few months back and it was mostly body work damage, and some minor things, nothing wrong with engine, tranny etc... the cost of labor it what made them total my car, putting it over the repair value for them... but I got a C55 in replacement, not a bad deal for me
Here is what happend to mine... Looks worse that what it was, but under the hood/engine compartment everything was fine... sadly the air bags never went off though...?!

It takes a pretty violent and specific accident/impact to set airbags off on cars these days-
I'm just surpirsed that the car tags the curb and transfers the force to the firewall-thats a solid set up!

I would just let them total it. You put way too much wear on your car to be driving it with any type of structural damage specially since your drag racing. Just buy it back and swap the engine and sell the engine out of the new car Sorry about all the bad luck.

the good news is I have no plans to abandon the AMG community. If i do end up in another AMG, I will do whatever it takes to make it one of the fastest AMG's around.

Sorry dude, i can relate i had the same series of events go down last year, a realtive died and then 1 month later my CLK500 was totaled
Sorry to hear about your crappy week!
Im not sure about your insurance, but when it toatled my CLK i gave them a list of everything i had put into that car and was reimbursed for ti all, down to my new brake pads, rotors, tires, wipers, and even the Service B i had just performed.
And also remember its not just whatever the insurance says go, you can negotiate. In my case, their original offer was 3k less than i wanted, and i told them i wouldnt take anyless than what i wanted, and they gave it to me!

Considering the damage, and your use for this C55 you may be better off with it totaled. Just buy it back, and part it out for a lot more... I don't personally know you, but this is terrible to see, and I'm very sorry to hear of your loss in the family. I experienced the loss of my mother, and 02' Sportcoupe close together. The car is nothing compared to a death in the family... My mother, and I were really close. Very hard times, and still is...

Very sorry to hear about your family loss Mike.
Just keep in mind cars can always be replaced my friend.
We all know you will bounce back with one MEAN AMG.
Best wishes to you and your family.

Very sorry to hear about your car man. I actually could use a good amount of parts from you if your going to be parting the car out though. I could use:
Hood
pass fender
driver fender (maybe)
headlights
upper grille
sunroof glass
rear antenna
steering wheel airbag (obviously if not deployed, I dont see it blown in the picture)
I have a crashed 05 c55 amg in need of those parts. Let me know if you want to work something out. Thanks

That is just terrible. My condolences for the loss of your family member and my sympathies for the loss of your car. You have recieved great advice from this forum regarding your insurance claim. I went through a similar situation with my C43 AMG when it was rearended by a buick going 35-40 mph after I had been at a full stop for 1 or 2 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic on an interstate. The accident took place just 45 minutes after I bought the car, preowned and certified, from the dealship.
To make a long story short, do not give in to your insurance co. no matter what. With persistance I got my ins. co. to pay about $27k to rebuild the rear of the car with new AMG parts and to give me $7k on top of that to compensate me for the "diminished value" of the car. An AMG being rare, not so replaceable, it will never be as saleable once repaired and thus, its value has been irrevocably diminished no matter how well it has been repaired. I drove the car for 3 years thereafter without a problem and traded it in on my C55 -- the dealer gave me $12k for it with 110k miles on the clock (they didn't notice the accident).

Losses
Hooley,
Man, very sorry to hear about your losses. I've been in and out of the Tempe, Scottsdale, Phoenix area a few times lately. I actually thought I spotted your car once in January, but being in a subaru rental makes it hard to catch up, lol. Good luck with the insurance adjusters. Don't let them hose you. I totaled a Porsche a few years ago when I got hit in the passenger door by a Toyota which drove me into an 18 wheeler. I walked away with one tiny scratch on my thumb but a very busted up car. The first offer from the insurance was HALF what the car was worth. They gave me the usual **** and bull story about it being an old car, yada yada. I looked on line for comparable cars for sale, and simple told them to either pay me the real value of the car or to go out in the marketplace and buy me a comparable replacement.
They came around after a few contentious meetings. They're job is to limit the losses. They will seek the easy way out.

Sorry to hear about all of this. I've been going through the worst year of my life, so I know how you feel. I just keep telling myself things will get better eventually, and you should too.

Mike, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your family member and then the crash of the C55. This kind of crap always seems to happen together.
Best of luck with whatever they decide to do with the mighty C55. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading about the trials you went through with the car.
If you have to get a new car then I'm sure it will be better that the last.
Best regards!
