End of an Era

Well, I've been in Boston the past week due to the passing of a very close relative. That being extremely hard to handle on its own. As soon as I step off the Jet back in Arizona, I turn my cell phone on a text message come in from my friend and owner of Dyno-Comp, Richard Garcia... Telling me to call him ASAP. So I call him and he basically tells me. He was in contact with the body shop after I hit a curb. My car is just about totaled. What a great way to cap off one of the worst weeks of my life. I'll know more today if my car is officially totaled... $30K in upgrades down the *** tubes. Not to mention a new RENNtech transmission with 500 miles on it.

Needless to say I'm beside myself... I have no idea what I'm going to do.

holy crap...sorry about what happened both about the relative and car. Worst case, you can buy it back from insurance for cheap and rebuild it or part out the engine. Your car was a inspiration to a lot of c55's.

Very sorry to hear about your losses. Hopefully they won't total the car but Temjin is right -- you can just purchase it back from the insurance company and repair it. If you aren't ready to part with the car yet I think that will be your best solution.

My condolences, but I'm sure you'll come back stronger than ever. How did the accident occur?

Just maybe I can inspire the SL guys in the near future. When the insurance company gives me a check for an amount Im not happy with. i'm going to rip off all and any parts I've put on it. Needless to say this caps a very crappy week.

These items might be for sale in the near future.
Headers
exhaust
Supercharger
All pulleys
heads
cams
RENNtech transmission
Headlights
grille
Brabus shift knob
water pump
IC pump

and more..

I'm just about 100% sure my slip cover on my gas peddle got stuck from sliding up. It made the car slam into a curb (good size one). at like 25 or so mhp..

Man, I don't even know what to say. I don't even really know you and I'm across the country and still I feel genuinely bad. I hope you can figure something out. Good luck dealing with the insurance company. I guess if nothing else, this gives you an excuse to get into a new project.

Wow man, sorry to hear that.

A couple years back I was going through a rough time and I remember my brother told me not to worry, everything always happens for a reason. Just get back on your feet, figure out what your next steps are, and everything will be ok. Sure enough he was right, as a month or two later things worked out for the better, which wouldn't have happened if the crap hadn't gone through in the first place.

Good luck man

damn Hooley,

Sorry to hear about all of this....Condolences to your family as well.

Also remember, what the insurance offers you is negotiable. Once I had an Integra that was totaled out and I negotiated with them since I had a stereo system installed, etc. Ended up getting almost another $800 total....and this with a Honda. Just tell them whatever they offer you is not acceptable and that you had other modifications on the car that you have receipts for.

Good luck brother!

I am really sorry for your losses. You contribute so much to this site, this just sucks. Remember it is part of the insurance adjusters job to get you to take as little as possible. Their figures aren't cast in stone, they can move. Just stay positive with them and work them for what you can.

Mike,
I feel for you. You put so much blood, sweat, tears not to mention time and money into that record-setting beast.

It's a shame that the you even upgraded the tranny just before this happened. Unfortunately, insurance will only pay off the market value of a stock vehicle but it depends on the policy how much aftermarket mods they will cover. You should be able to recoup maybe 50% of your remaining undamaged mods by selling them to forum members here. I can certainly help by taking the headers and exhaust system off your hands to offset some of the insurance underpayment.

I feel I lost a an inspirational C55 brother. Not sure if I want to mod my car anymore other than to chase down Blackbenzz although it's not the same model.

Well, I just spoke with a few people. One being my friend in the parts Dpt at the dealer. and the Other at the Body shop.

Body shop says... They are not sure yet if the car will be totaled, However the bill is getting up there... One last adjustment happens tomorrow, We will see then.

My friend in the parts dpt. said The body shop returned all the parts they ordered to for the car... not a good sign.

What ever happens i wont be AMG-less for long.
