I have a 2003 c32 amg. My owners manual gives a list of acceptable transmission fluids. Someone told me we have a zf transmission and we can only use mercedes fluid. Is this true or are there other acceptable fluids and what specifically are they? Thanks.

we do not have zf transmissions, your thinking early e46's. THe c32 transmission is produced in house by mercedes. Its preferable that you use oem, but others have used aftermarket without any real problems.

I used Fuchs 4134 oil which is approved for the 722.9 transmissions and is backwards compatible with our 722.6. Not wanting to mess around with cooler lines I drained and refilled it twice to get more of the old oil out. Shifts are a lot smoother.

Measure the amount of oil you remove... What if it isn't at the correct level to begin with? You can get the dipstick online for less than $50 dollars.

I like how the flush was done on this thread. A lot easier than getting under the vehicle. I took the other route and pulled the cooler line off the torque converter... The start of this thread is a DIY write up? What else are you wondering?

I changed mine last week. I got something like 3.25 liters with the DRAIN PLUG removed and another 0.75 liters when I removed the pan.
