One less C32 on the road, Mine is Dead :(
Driving home tonight on the freeway at about 80mph, my check engine light came on once again, it was solid. About 1 mile later it started blinking, I was planing to get off on the next off ramp, about 1 mile away. About 30 seconds later smoke came billowing out from under the hood and the back of the car. I get off the next exit and pull into a parking lot. By the time I park and get out of the car, there is a puddle of oil coming from under the drivers side and smoke is everywhere. I got it towed home and will check it out tomorrow. The top-end of the engine is clean so my guess is it through a rod either throught te oil pan or the bottom of the block. Either way it is not good.
It is a sad night, on a side note: Does anyone know of a used engine for sale?

Yeah, I am in Roseville and it is silver. I go to school at Sacramento State. I'm going to dig into it tomorrow and once I find the extent of the damage I will go from there.

Truly sorry about what happened. Hope you can fix it and wont need a new engine. BTW, did that look like engine oil or tyranny oil on the ground?

Maybe a timing chain tensioner issue? Happened to me once. The tensioner backs out over time and can start to leak oil. I caught mine early, but if you dont the oil can leak, timing chain breaks and the engine jumps time. Hope that isnt what happened to you. Best of luck.

a rod makes a LOT of noise long before it lets go. Unless you've been hearing a jackhammer under the hood for months, you're probably safe on this one. Let us know what you find!

I removed the belly pans this afternoon, and this is what I found. Thole is right above where the oil pan bolts to the block. It is about 3 inches across and about 1 inch tall. I found an engine at a local wrecking yard out of a 2002 SLK32 with 35000 miles for $1100, the engine has some minor damage to the left valve cover and the cam gear is broken, I will probably swap the entire head with the good one from my engine. Anything special I should check out or inspect before purchasing this used engine. Thanks

You have your work cut out for you. You're very fortunate you were able to find another engine in fairly decent shape. I would do an entire rebuild if you can. Maybe do a few upgrades while you are in there. Maybe upgrade the cams, various new gaskets, etc. I would figure out what happened to your previous engine and figure out what can be done to prevent that.
Here's a general guide on rebuilding your engine.
