New engine just ordered! V58
Dear AMG fans,
I am proud to announce that I am driving to Germany in 2 weeks to change the engine for my C55.
I have been calling and searching for tuners all around and my final choice
is called Vath. I will take pictures and so on of there factory they make great stuff. http://www.vaeth.com/
Although my first choice was a compressor, I changed my mind after talking to their mecanics. So at the end, I will get a 5.8 engine with 440hp and 630Newton meter Its gona be sick I can't sleep anymore at night
Here is a little video of the same engine on a slk55.

This sounded interesting for cooling:
MERCEDES C-CLASS - W203: cooling systems intercooler from high quality aluminum. Cooler air, higher oxygen content of the intake air, thus substantially improving combustion. 5-8% power increase fuel cooler Cooler fuel has a higher density. The efficiency is increased significantly. Much improved combustion ensures excellent emission values, lower fuel consumption, lower combustion chamber temperatures and more power. For heavy-duty engines and for all customers, your VÄTH or Mercedes engine particularly want to maintain. Incl. Hoses, fittings. Engine oil cooling system for heavy-duty engines and for all customers, or the Mercedes engine particularly want to maintain your VÄTH. Engine oil cooling system including hoses and fittings. Transmission oil cooler kit

they sell their fuel cooler on the website. i translated....i would like to get a price on it and perhaps an estimate on potential power gained
however, on a side note, i believe that Eurocharged sold fuel cooling stuff with their liquid CO2 kit and IIRC, it doesn't do that much.

I can't imagine that's cost effective hooley got 480 to the wheels on his engine. Are these specs crank HP? I am guessing it's crank since the size not much bigger. I don't think it's worth it unless they can easily throw some kind of forced induction kit on it.

I sure will.
Well because I have a lot of money, I work in a Bank in Switzerland
No, jk, to be serious, my dream was always to tune my c55. What are the other options?
1. Brabus offers only 10 hp more with there 6.1 engine and it cost around 50'000 EUR
2. Kleeman is around 36 000 USD in Switzerland but it will blow my engine and its not legal.
3. Vath will give me 440hp and 630NM which is ahell of a lot. Specially for half of the price of Brabus and it's road legal.
And listen to the V58 sound

Why do you think Kleeman will blow your engine? Alumar tracks his car all the time and his runs fine and the supercharger is around 10k and makes more power than a new engine. Seems pretty simple of a choice IMO. If you want better sound just chop off the cats and resonator.
55(N/A)-K1: A Kompressor system incl. a custom made ECU upgrade. Up to 500 HP and 650 Nm (481 lb-ft) of torque.
55(N/A)-K2: K1 + a set of stainless steel tubular exhaust headers and downpipes. Up to 525 HP and 680 Nm (504 lb-ft) of torque.
55(N/A)-K3: K2 + super sport camshafts. Up to 540 HP and 700 Nm (518 lb-ft) of torque.

Although adding a Kleeman Supercharger will yield more power, there is something to be said about retaining the feel of a naturally aspirated engine. The more linear throttle response and power delivery can be very desirable.
I look forward to the completion of this project. With this upgrade, you are close to the HP level of a stock C63, but in a lighter chassis. This upgrade actually will give you more peak torque than the C63 too.

The best bang for the buck and factory friendly would be to swap in a stock 55k motor and tranny. Everything bolts up and the wiring harness clicks right in. It just needs some reprogramming etc. Then you can do the usually 55k mods if you so desire...

A turbocharged engine...well, that's a different story. Manufacturers have been trying for a long time and using different turbo configurations to eliminate lag and provide smooth delivery.
Just my two cents. Along with everyone else I'm curious to see what happens here but I believe there were much better options out there for the money. Regardless if you enjoy it that's what matters.

I'm not sure this statement really applies in this case. A supercharged engine, excluding those using centrifugal style superchargers, will have a smooth linear power band just like a naturally aspirated engine.

After driving my buddies evo 8. I tend to agree. Our sc's feels more like a larger NA v8 then a sc v6. I know the evo basically has no power till 3500rpm where as the c32 tends to always have power when you gas it.

Thats correct. The best example in this case: both the kleemann modification here in Switzerland (550hp and 710Nm) and the V58 engine cost exactly the same price ! Not to mentioned once again, that the Kleeman is illegal here in CH. I will just have to add a kompressor at Vath next year
My appointment is next week in Germany, I will driving a Porsche GT3 in France this week-end lol
Anyway, back to the interesting part, here are some of the mods for those interested:
Displacement 5.766 ccm
Because of the bs and strict laws we have in Switzerland I think I chose the best solution for me. Final result is 322Kw -> 440PS and 630Nm at 3'900 rpm.
I will post pix as soon as possible but until then back to my great C55. Damn I love that car

Btw, I forgot to mention that with the V58, I get a 2 year garantee or 100,000 km. Damn I love Germany
Driving tomorrow to Frankfurt, I will post the pix when I get back on Sunday. Until then back to
