Possible to use an aftermarket CD changer?

Its common for our cd changers to go bad.. Mine took a huge dump awhile back I've been thinking about getting a replacement... ( Thought about Ipod kit but it will end up costing more..)... Thought about OEM but it cost alot for used one..

My questions are... Is it possible to use an aftermarket CD changer and control them with buttons on the handle?

Thinkin about pansonic cd changer..

Thanks in adv

A cheaper, newer, and easier solution is to buy the aux cable and use your ipod.

The CDC is ran on a fiber optic bus, I don't think you will find an aftermarket one that is compatible unless it's specifically made for a benz.

You could also run an aftermarket cd changer through your radio frequency, but you would lose a bit in quality.

I did run across an Alpine DVD version that worked with our cars. Had the MOST module on the back. I dont think it was cheap though.

Ugh mine just broke today. The "changer" is stuck in the box, it makes a horrible noise when trying to eject. I was really worried it would drain the battery, but seems o.k...

Anyhow, if you have COMMAND, there is an AUX jack in the glove box. But I think the quality is akin to the radio (aka, not as great as a CD). How much does the iPod cost form the dealer?
