thats why we have the redneck muffler shops deleting secondary cats and resonators with out questions, and the mexican smog shops to slip an extra $20 and pass our high emissions cars.. GOD BLESS AMERICA..!!!

His mama. Traded y0 mama in because she was squeaking.
That's why I live in a state where we don't have these **** emission inspection laws.
Ironically, from what I hear, we have a 680HP max limit on the law books. I can't think of hearing it be enforced.
mental note... look up statutes and see about actually finding this law so I know for sure

Obviously if your nearest neighbor is 50miles away vs just spitting out the window and being able to hit 20 people. You don't need those laws.

its not like these engines in our cars are our grandpa's 1970's push rod engine. Most new engines are designed to use the added backpressure from cats to create more tq anyways.

When you have a population density as high as california or new york, you need those laws. They have worked. The air here is cleaner now then it was 20yrs ago.

You damned near can't even modify your car for more power. Correct me if I'm wrong? But in Ca, if a cop pulls you over and sees non factory equipment (say, NOS) on a street driven car, he can impound the vehicle?

EDIT: Sorry I just noticed you are local as well.
I actually work one street down from them so if you need an inspection/information on the car I will be more than happy to stop by there.
Send me a PM if you are interested.

I agree with your reasoning why you all need emission laws. But I still think car related laws are somewhat ridiculous in Cali.

But to refer to your question, the answer would be no because its not illegal to have NOS or nitrous installed on your car. It is illegal to use it though..

That makes me wonder, can they still ticket you for "illegal" or non emission compliant stuff on your car if the car is registered out of state?
By "Illegal", I mean, say for example, tint?
I know that here, in this state cops can't enforce other state's automotive laws, and as such, will not give you a ticket for say, a lack of a front license plate if the car is registered out of state.

I would only worry about it if you plan on taking a trip to CA anytime soon..
