C55: A love story
Well, I'm going to be honest: I was never looking for a C55 on the first place. I wanted to trade in my 04' Subaru WRX, after three years, 6k of mods and several headaches. The car, initially, was reliable; but adding more and more modifications came with a cost. Leaking oil, burn smell on the A/C (I live in Miami), wheel camber issues, etc. I learned my lesson. I really wanted something sweet, German and exclusive. Initially I was looking for a 06' M3. The car grabbed my attention on the auto-x races back in my country (Peru). I loved the snarl sound on those 4 pipes and the "don't mess with me" face. I started looking for the car last year, but I couldn't find one that I liked (I didn't want convertibles, only coupes). Then came a slight turnaround in my life, I fell in love and started thinking about family (I love kids). Because of that, I turned my attention to the sedans.
The only sedan I wanted was the BMW 355. The car was sporty, had the power and was nice to drive. But I was skeptical: After all, it was not as exclusive as an M3, and the M3 sedan was out of my reach ($). Anyway, I started doing my homework looking for one. I saw three 335's on a dealer webpage, but something else was calling for me, and there it was. Silver, in the price range I was looking for, low miles. I knew what was AMG, after all, I do love cars. Is just that I never thought of having one, it never crossed my mind. I started to do some research (I did not sleep that night) and I took the decision to have a peek. Fortunately, the salesman was very kind, showed me the little defects of the car (some scratches and a burned foglight) and game the the keys. I drove a 335 before the C55, it was like driving a kart to me. However, the C55 had a different sensation, a mixture of comfort and sport. I liked the features and interior, much better than the bimmer. The suspension was softer in a way, and the seats were much comfortable. It was a ride that I could use to go to work, or on a weekend. My (now) wife like it too. So, there was no competition at all. Now, after 3 months, I fell in love with the merc. Yes, it has a thirsty engine, but the combination of stealth, power, comfort, exclusivity and luxury is unmatched. Now I'm the envy of my fellow neighbors and friends. The only issue I have now is my wife, which calls it "the mistress"

I just ate one of those m3's up on the freeway on ramp the other day. It accelerated hard and the car sounded bad maybe it had an exhaust problem, but it was raspy there is no comparison my car sounds like a monster especially with my rear cat off and resonator. Once he heard my car and saw me walk right by him he let off quick!

Congrats on your C55, Luis! Reading your post brings memories from the time when I was buying my C. It seems like a beginning of a classic love story - it's been 5 years and 105,000 miles for me so far and I love every minute of it.
LOL at your wife's comment about mistress and congrats on finding that special someone in your life and getting married!
Enjoy and welcome to the forum

Well I have said this before (as others have) welcome to the sickness. There is no apparent cure to an AMG. My C55 is a great car and I am very happy with it. The fact is that they were made for only 2 years so to me that's kinda cool too.
Enjoy the outtings with the Mistress! Treat her well and the rewards will be many!

Congratulations all the way around Luis. I picked my C32 up about a month ago and haven't been happier with any car I've ever owned. A few months from now when I've grown familiar with the car I can't wait to start pouring every expendable dime I have into it.

a true tear jerker, sometimes love is found at the end of a long twisting path that you never expected to find yourself traveling down. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Dont call the C55 your mistress though unless your mistress has bigger muscles than you and a voice like Mgruff the crime dog

Congrats on the car, you will love it. My wife, who is from Peru, calls my car the "senorito" and keeps reminding me, as I work on it and spend time with it, that it can't cook or keep me warm at night.
