Extend MB warrant to 2014? - Opinions Please

Current MB extended warranty expires 2013 for a C55.

Still under factory CPO with ability to extend another year for $2400.

I'm 50/50 on doing this... looking for real world C55 advice/opinions.

Thanks!

That's cheap. It cost so much more in Canada. I personally think it is worth it. The piece of mind alone. I am sure it will help with the resale value as well if you decide to get rid of the car before hand. I haven't had any major issues with my car (knock on wood) since I purchased my extended warranty but even the small mechanical fixes would have cost close to what I paid for the warranty.

Extend another year for $2400? For 1 year only? Uh, no, probably not necessary with a C55.....

I misread, $2,400 for one year is not worth it. I didn't even know they had this option. Definitely a NO.

$2,400 is a LOT of money. I know that if something major fails it can be costly, but what is there that could cost you $2,400 in one year on this car (is what you have to ask yourself). Also, are you a DIY/troubleshooting/knowledgeable-like-to-research kind of person, or do you drop it off at the dealership the second you see a bug splat on your windshield?

On this specific car/forum, you're going to see two polar opposites. You're going to see the non-warranty crowd (due to the fact that it's a car without the problem-prone fancy bells-n-whistles the higher level cars have) and the warranty crowd (due to the fact that it's still an expensive AMG mercedes).

For that much money, my personal opinion is that the dealership is trying to hose you on that one.

The only way this would be a wise "investment" is if you were to sell the car in the next year. A CPO car will go for more $$, plus you can build the $2,400 back into the asking price.
