is 20K a lowball offer

Working an angle on a Black/Black 06 C55, all options, even has black burl instead of aluminum

One owner car in Miami, all service records since new from Mercedes Pompano. it has 58K miles He is looking for 24K right now. I have him down to 22900. I am trying to get to 20K... do you guys think that is an insult?

Thx

No, not a lowball offer at all. Check KBB.com and you'll see that ~$18-22 is roughly private party value depending on miles and condition. Go for it. Paid about that for my '05 with 63k...

I paid $24.5k for mine, private seller, with 29k miles on it. Has the Bi-xenons, command, nav, etc.... I think it was fair. When I looked it up it was haflway between KBB and NADA. Granted, you are in a different market, but just to give you an idea. I'd definately ask lower.

I am still thinking about yours too! I just prefer the look of the wedge front on the C55.

I paid $25k for my 05 in October last year with 33k miles but it was also from a MB dealer and was CPO. No BiX or Comand (but has since been added!). So I would say $20k isn't completely unreasonable for a private seller. You might be willing to settle for $21k if the car is in nice enough shape not to risk letting it go though.

I would pounce on that ASAP!! A lot of people dont realize that only 400 were imported into the United States in 2006... These cars will eventually end up gaining value.

Mine is my Sunday Funday car now, Odometer just turned 40k...

Mine will be going up soon - It will be around that mark and it has a bit more options than stock, including a new supercharger, host of other brand new items all professionally installed at Kleemann NA HQ by Cory himself

I have made the move on a 2009 Nissan GTR - pickup next week

Same here in Tampa Bay, luckily VA wasn't so bad, just sold house for 100% profit up there and now I am going to steal a waterfront place down here!

I had an 04 GTO that was 1 of 377. The value never went up on that. Actually it seemed if the wind blew the value dropped. Gas went up, tanked the price, Pontiac went out of business, dropped more.

OP, if you can, buy this one^^^. Great deal (potentially, depending on what "around that" means ) if you plan on modding.

For your original question, though - agree w/ others: a decent '06 C55 is worth $20k, give or take a couple thousand for options/condition/mileage.

A lot of used luxury car values took an absolute beating last year... some have actually trended back up (a bit) in 2010. Not sure if any AMGs have followed suit, however. Best of luck with your search - if it's the one you want, they are rare enough that you should probably at least think about purchasing if the price is close to your mark... even if a bit over. YMMV.

The only AMG's have have seen hold their value are the 2000 C43 but that is because like 56 were imported or something really low like that, only year C43 with the touchshift trans.

If you can find one of those for sale they are still very pricey.

i've seen them for $11-12k pretty much that's how low the C32 is now as well and how low the C55 will be soon enough, but that's pretty much the bottom line of the car unless the car is really f-ed up.

my buddy had a chance to pick up a clean 05 E55 for $24-25k private sale, but i told him to pass on it after I had my SA ran the service history on it (that car had TONS of issues that could've been a lemon).

the point is, copy the VIN and ask the dealership to check the service history and have the car checked out by mechanic that can work on MB that you trust, and lastly you can always bargain more like said above.
