Just as a fyi... removing the resonator has zero effect on emissions & performance, it simply is done for a change in sound.

I had my secondaries and resonator removed with straight pipes welded back in place for $105 ($35 a piece) and it was done in about 45 min. Removing the secondaries IS illegal so you will have to find a shop that doesn't have an issue bending the rules a bit. As far as passing DEQ you shouldn't have a problem, at least I didn't. Here in Oregon they hook up the computer to your OB2 connector and as long as you have the primary cats with the O2 sensors working (the secondary cats don't have O2 sensors) your cars computer tells the DEQ computer everything is working fine. I highly doubt anyone at the DEQ station is going to go looking under an AMG to see if you have all of the Cats intact, we get a little more respect due to the MB star and AMG badge on our cars. They don't think that anyone would modify something that costs big $$$$, at least that is how it is here in Oregon.

I went to a decent shop here in Sydney and walked in and showed them what I needed. Simple cut and weld.. They even funnily enough had a length of 3" stainless steel next to me ready to go..

He quoted $240 AUD I said sorry will pay $150 tops and within 2 seconds I was driving out, with my resonator still in place.

I don't know the prices relative to the states but I know from my research here it's 20minutes labour and a piece of pipe and some welding...

Yeah.. thought that was about right!

Just hard, dont' want to spend an hour or more driving around for a quote again to be let down. Need to lock a place in over the phone who know what they are doing to a price..

It's just a second, smaller muffler. It dosen't really affect performance, just sound.

It's in your mind. Even if you lost 1 or 2 hp, you wouldn't feel it.

I am in the Tampa Bay area, if anyone has suggestions for a shop to do the resonator and secondary cats let me know. I haven't crawled around under my car much, just want to make sure they cat removal won't throw codes. the o2 sensors are before and after the primary cats right?

there are no O2 sensors attached to/monitoring the resonator or secondary cats. you can delete both and be good to go!

Finally I got hooked up a place for $80 AUD (~$60USD) so I'm much happier than my first quote of $240AUD !

Never got to see the weld job when the car was on the hoist as I left it with him while I went for lunch. The sound is just what I was expecting, not any louder really just a nicer tone. I expect it to sink in a bit more over the coming downs and come out a bit more.. either way very happy!

won't be long you will want to take off the secondary cats, if you have other plans on modding...

Did some research.. and I thought I'd start with resonator.

I have C3 Pulley, Intake & IC30 but of course all the mods I have are relatively cheap and plug and play. I want to get a tune and some clear/crystal headlight covers but can't seem to find any good ones

For those who deleted the resonator, was the change in sound noticeable right away or did you have to drive around for awhile?

should be a day or two as it takes your muffler about that long to re-break in and adjust. that's how long it took mine. it is noticeable on day 1, but its like day 3 that you really notice it.

Yeah I'm a few days in now and it's finally settled and sounds awesome. Day 1 is ok but nothing like day 3 where the tone has settled.

Hey guys, I'm considering removing the resonator and secondary cats on my C32 this weekend. Any idea if it will pass emissions with the secondary removed? Most secondary cats I've seen are just cheap paper meshes.
