Parts.com and check out the diy I made. Parts.com has the best prices and the actual parts come from MB delaerships. They are oem mercedes parts. I would also send them an email to assure that your are getting the correct side actuator. I think there is a difference between left and right, but I could be mistaken. I am sure that the driver's door assembly is different from all the rest of them. Take in mind that the driver's side door will not lock unless locked manually from the out side of the car or with the alarm. I had every thing all put together and I thought that my driver's side went out, but it's just one of MB's idiot proof mechanism from locking yourself out of your car.

Look here is a diagram for it from parts.com, more than likely you need the left one, but send parts.com an email to find out. Again these are genuine mercedes parts from dealerships across the country. You can't find a better deal and it's all brand new parts directly from mercedes.

It's part #6 in the diagram.

Were you talking about the link that I provided? Because if so, I never provided a part number. I just said that you would probably need the left side front door, just like what was in the link that I provided.

Installation is a *****.
Sublet the task to a competent independent technician for less than $300 OTD.

From some research I was doing few months back people came to the conclusion the problem is a small spring in the actuator that snaps. You can buy a set of springs at Autozone for $5 dollars, do a little modification, and fix the $100 dollar actuator.

Parts.com's diagrams are sometimes linked to the wrong part #. For you to get the bet result you have to email them with your VIN and the part your looking for.

its not that bad. a decent weekend mechanic with a set of torx, rivet gun, and some good metal drill bits should be able to handle it...may wanna get some new door panel clips as these sometimes break depending on how old they are. they are only a few cents each

Do doubt several here have replaced a defective lock actuator on their own.
Have a reasonably well equipped workshop. Most drivetrain and chassis work is duck soup.
Dicking around with MB’s nightmarish electronics is beyond my comfort zone.

Check out my thread, I did the job, but there were a lot of unknown factors and I did not always have the right tools, so it took longer than it should. Had I had all the right tools and new some of the quarks of the job it would have been much easier.

Take in mind I have done it myself.

I would say that I wasted a few hours figuring out stupid things. If you remove the door handle, it makes the job much easier, but then I didn't have the right tool to remove the door handle. I had a torx set, but it would not reach the bolt. Then there is a tough piece of plastic/styrofoam wedge that supports the assembly and I didn't know that it comes out in two pieces. I was using the rivet gun incorrectly and there was more time wasted.

Putting every thing back together was a piece of cake, it was just figuring every thing out from vague instructions and not having the right tools that made the job more difficult. I'm sure if you've done simple jobs on your car, you should be more than capable, just make sure that you do the job when you have time and definitely have another car available if you need to go buy a tool or what not.

My neigbor works at a body shop that works on exotic cars
he noticed my door lock acting funny and asked if i wanted it fix
i said yes and he offered to fix it for free
He had a brand new part sitting at work not being used
So he and I did it together.

He knew exactly what to do and it didn't cost me anything.
