So when I just turn the key on, but not the motor, and then go to "check oil level" it says, "checking oil level now", and then just says "perf. Serv. On time". I didn't ****ing ask when or if I should preform service on my car, I just want to know my oil level!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(OK, I took a few deep breaths)

So I just put it into dyno mode to check it. with the car on and running it says 7.1 quarts.

Or this:

so do actually just have 7.1 quarts in my motor? Does it just measure from the oil pan, or does it take into consideration what is , at that second, circulating through the motor (and is, therefore, not in the pan)?

Please help clear this up for me? My motor sound like it needs oil, but the dash dispay (with the car off, and going to "check engine oil", it won't tell me one way or the other, just says "perform service on time". I just want to punch whosever idea it wa to NOT have a diostick in the face and break his jaw!!!! (OK, I took another deep breath)

Please advise, Thanks!!!

Yeah, I saw that. When I do my tranny fluid I'll get that.

But in the mean time, is the readout for oil level in dyno mode correct?

I have the same problem with mine. I do my oil change and I make sure to use only 8 quarts and then I'll see if it's low and add a half if it needs it, but even when I've added oil in the past, the reading did not change by much.

I'm going to experiment with the car and check how much oil it says in dyno mode when I have drained the oil completely.

I can't get it to show the oil level when in dyno mode EXCEPT when the motor is running. Is there a way to see oil leven in dyno mode with just the key on and motor off?

Yes. Put the car in dyno mode and turn the ignition on with starting the car.

I'm assuming you are putting the car in dyno mode with the ignition at position 1. Then turn the key to position 2 (just before start) and give it a moment. It has always worked that way for me.

If your car is running, it makes sense that your dash will always show a lower amount of oil than is actually in the engine.

Normally perform service on time indicates the vehicle has just been running. allow the vehicle to sit for about 5 minutes and try again. After doing an oil change on these cars, start the vehicle up and allow it to run for about a minute or so. then allow the vehicle to sit for over 5 minutes and the oil level indicator should come up.

Me too, I'm going to do my oil change today and I hope I can get an accurate read.

I'm going to try to do the blackstone testing on my oil to see how my engine is doing. I have that feeling like when you go to the doctor and they do a blood test and are going to give you the bad news. I hope this does not turn out to be the case for my C32.

How often does every one change their oil? I have been doing it at the recommended interval of 10k miles, but I think I'm going to start doing it every 5k.
