Hello to all, I have been reading these forums for a while but this is my first post.
So recently I traded in my 06 c230 sport to my work and purchased a 02 c32 AMG, the car is immaculate with only 49k miles. Needless to say I am in love. I will be getting a new inter cooler pump and some new tires and there is one trim piece that needs to be replaced but all in all the car is awesome.
Ive been reading the forums for quite a while and have a good handle on the mods. So far I am just thinking of getting the SL 55 intake cause my employee discount is pretty good. Down the road I would consider doing pulleys and a tune. Does anybody know of any tuners in the DC metro area? Lastly I really want to get rid of the frosty head light look, does anybody that has made the swap to the newer style xenons know the part numbers? Thank you all in advance.
ps. my name is Zach

welcome to the forum Zach and congrats on your new car! Enjoy it and let the modding begin!

thank you I definately will. Is the SL55 intake a good mod to do on its own ? Or is the benefit more fully realized with pulleys and a tune? I dont know anywhere to get a tune where I live.

Nice find. That's good mileage for an 02 model. If I were you the very first thing I would do is make sure your radiator is the good one. You don't want glycol contamination in your transmission. Just do a search on Valeo or Glycol Contamination in the forums and you'll find a wealth of information. It was only in the '02 model if I'm not mistaken.
Other than that enjoy the car. You're going to love it!

Well lucky for me the previous owner serviced his car where I work so I looked through his records. He actually had the radiator, transmission and torque converter replaced under warrenty and the new parts only have about 10k miles on them!
Thank you for the heads up though
On a side note I drove the car home and around town with that permit to drive only home thing, and lets just say it was love at first drive. I love it more than my 04 STi I had prior to the 06 c230

I've always been curious about the Evo / STi. I drove an Evo 8 after a friend picked up a new one and I 'really' liked it. Couple years later I ended up going with the C32 though because it met my wifes condition: automatic. She loves it too though and we've both pretty much agreed it's going to be about impossible to go back to a car with less power. We're both miserable with the power of rental cars whenever we go somewhere. Not sure what my next car will be... Still happy with my C32 though.

Well I think Subaru makes great cars, my first car was a 2004 Forester XT 5 speed and that lil suv was fast. It was second only to the STi and after some lady decided to run a red and hit me, I was able to get the STi. Then I wasted tons of money and time in it like I was addicted to drugs. So I got rid of it for the c230 with no options and fell in love with it but over the years I really started to miss the power. So what better car then to add power to a vehicle I already liked!!!
btw. does anybody know the part numbers for the clear lensed bi xenons or does any year after 02 fit? I cant special order a part and it not be correct. If anybody has those updated lights stock on their car you could just give me your vin and I can find out the part numbers and would greatly appreciate it!

ExploreThat is where my old diesel was originally purchased. Best Dealer for service in DC hands down... so are you also saying we can all get your employee discount!?!
Why thank you. I have only been here 3 months or so but I am doing my best to earn that reputation. As for the discounts I have been to a few parts websites that are only a tiny bit more expensive then what we get here. I was pretty shocked
Yeah I was kidding about the discount. Even at cost you can ussually find cheaper elsewhere.

and early 03 models as well. Pretty much gone by mid-late 03 and all of 04
As far as mods, Intake, tune and SC pulley and Quaife should do you well. Beyond those, the gains are negligible.

Yes I want to get a tune, but where in the dc metro area can I go ?
I dont want to go to a shop that hasn't worked on a c32 before..I dont feel like being the guinea pig
and will I notice any gains just by swapping out the stock intake for the SL55 one? BTW I have read some on the spacers do they really help out with the IETs?

The phenolic spacers may help on the first or second run BUT after that, heat soak sets in and they don't make a difference. Once the cars upand running for awhile, they really don't do that much. You 'd get more out of a Code III intake (if available), a Code III pulley (find a used one), and a tune. I'd get a better HE as well.Originally Posted by Mr.Benzo

Get a hold of Jake at Eurocharged, he should be able to get you a tune.
So are you not recommending the SL55 intake then? I can get all the pieces for around 300 total?
I will try to get a hold of him, but I need new tires, an intercooler pump and a few other things checked off my list first. Where do you guys recommend purchasing the CODE 3 products, especially a new heat exchanger?

I don't have the SL 55 intake; I used the old Jerry Tune from LET, the Code 3 intake (at the firewall) and LET Intake as well as Code 3 SC pulley. I regularly run in the 12s with my set-up BUT my car only has about 30 K miles on it.Originally Posted by Mr.Benzo

Your out of luck finding code3 products, as HPauto doesn't really do that stuff anymore. They were ordering HE's from us.
Go with Glen's suggestions and find a used c3 intake or sc pulley. I can get you a he and/or tune (or a 185mm pulley)

Id like to thank you guys for all your replies. Also I would prefer to get products from a company still in business that can help out if anything goes wrong. How many people here run Renntech or Evosport products?
So yesterday after work I got my intercooler pump replaced and oh boy what a difference. Also had the headlights aimed and did some other maintenance things. Now I would be happy but now the motors in the drivers seat have failed that move it forward and back and the seat is stuck too far from the pedels for my liking .... oh well something new to deal with
at least I have power every time I need it
