So, I was driving home with a full trunk of groceries when a Vette comes from the traffic behind. I'm like, "Cool, finally I can play with my new car." So, once we get out of traffic and turn on to a four lane country highway, I see it says "ZR1" on the side. We did a pull and I got a good car lengths jump on him, but that's when he started to pull hard on me. I hit the brakes due to a car coming up in my lane and he zoomed by me at prob 135-140. Anyway, I didn't really know what a potent little animal the ZR1 was, so I pulled some facts on it:
Long story short, for my first race in the new wheels, I got owned. But, in the end of the day, I have four doors, drive a luxury Euro, can carry a full trunk of groceries (obviously), and can still fight the good fight
As for him, he still drives a Chevy

You're a car guy...on an enthusiast forum...how the F&CK do you not know what a ZR1 is? That's difficult to believe. The ZR1 has only been covered a billion times in all of the automotive magazines, websites and media since its release. It might be "just a Chevy" but he has you covered in every possible performance aspect, by 100x...badge not withstanding.

ZR1 is an incredible fast, very fast american car and.. That's about it.... Now the question is, is it worth $105k? Let's be honest here, If you are really buying a ZR-1 for the performance factor people might as well buy a Mitsubishi Evo for around 35k and with around 17k in mods you will smoke anything in the street including a ZR-1.... The evo will beat anything performance wise fully modded and it's pretty much comparable to a ZR-1 except the price and that it's not as fast stock vs stock, and the interior also looks and feels better and not so cheap as in the Chevy. In other words it is foolish to buy a $100,000 Chevrolet... To those that bought a ZR-1, enjoy it.

Wow...I don't know how a C55 could stayed with a ZR1 up to 140 but a ZR1 is very easy to spot...as many mentioned C6 Vette Platform is not a joke to deal with...especially with heads and cam and even worse Supercharged C6s which are ZR1 killers in the making. If I wanted to run a nasty project it will be a C6 LS2 + Supercharger = 600rwhp on pump gas with 3400lbs or acceleration like this:

550rwhp:

Scary part of all this, I've been an enthusiast for many cars and top Vette shops charge 12-14k to get 650-700rwhp on pump gas on a C6 LS2/LS3 Platform and that includes installation and out the door..couple that with the LS2s SC cars still getting 32mpg highway and you got one hell of a daily driver and monster with just the touch of the go pedal.
Doom239 said it right, no need to spend 100k for a ZR1, give me a LS2 and 10k and you'll already be in a 10 second car.

This is something I've been trying to prove on the W203 forums since I joined. A EVO you buy for say 25k a 06 EVO9 and spend 8k on it, with get you drop in pistons, tbe, better flowing incooler, cams, cam gears, uicp/licp, a FP BLACk, mbt or ebt, and a tune will put you at over 550AWHP which is deadly for a everyday car and the car will still be suitable for Autocrossing*(Auto-x) and dragging on the street to the track. Unbeatable cars, that why I love 'em.
That or just get a used C6 for 27k and dump the same money inside as well..exactly the same point. A good platform goes a long way.

Only problem with the E46 SMG is all of the problems with the SMG. Plus the tune you have to get every 30k kind of sucks. I can just imagine the problems would would be magnified after modding it a ton. I thought about an E46 before the C55, but there were too many drawbacks to owning a high-output 6.

You may have already seen this, but it's pretty cool. Granted, it's the big HP Evo that isn't sold here, but still impressive nonetheless.
