Picked A Fight With the Wrong Vette...
So, I was driving home with a full trunk of groceries when a Vette comes from the traffic behind. I'm like, "Cool, finally I can play with my new car." So, once we get out of traffic and turn on to a four lane country highway, I see it says "ZR1" on the side. We did a pull and I got a good car lengths jump on him, but that's when he started to pull hard on me. I hit the brakes due to a car coming up in my lane and he zoomed by me at prob 135-140. Anyway, I didn't really know what a potent little animal the ZR1 was, so I pulled some facts on it:
Long story short, for my first race in the new wheels, I got owned. But, in the end of the day, I have four doors, drive a luxury Euro, can carry a full trunk of groceries (obviously), and can still fight the good fight
As for him, he still drives a Chevy
Incidentally, the Corvette ZR1 runs a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 and accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 205 mph
As for him, he still drives a Chevy

Not to be an ickday, but you just bought a 5 year old C class for probably under 20K, the other guy drives a ride with supercar performance and that is a pretty darn impressive piece of engineering, and you look down on him for "still driving a Chevy"?
Sorry, try again.
Sorry, try again.

i'd rather have ZR1 than two C55s (sorry guys)
i might keep my S55 though, since it's a real "luxury Euro"

i was never one to love american cars, but ZR1s are bada$$....and just a random fact....they get similar city gas mileage but i think better highway depending on how fast you go (they get like 24+ on highway IIRC)
dynocomp made a ridiculous one. IIRC, tune, full exhaust, pulley...it was SICKK!
i found a vid for the dyno, but it is PRE-pulley

With $104,000 I think I would have put the money to better use, like buying an R35 GT-R or an Audi R8, with still change left over to put some kiddos halfway through college

User-preference I guess. I have never, and will never own a Chevy...I don't care if they come out with rocket ships.

Don't get me started on textbooks...I just finished college last December and I didn't buy too many textbooks because of the price. I did just fine without. It's fraud and a way for the profs to make money!

A supercharged C55 should be able to beat an LS2 C6 no problemo and give an LS3 a run for the money.
The one C55 that I know that would make C6Z06 owners think twice is Hooley's old beast.

I have ran 2 C6 vets on the road...not much of an issue
The link i put prior was a very modified C6ZO6 Lingenfelter, which the guy's first day in it was at the track ...so he was learning it, hense his ****ty time. That care ended up mid 10's @ 129-130 by end of the day... not much of a race ...
My best ever trap was 118, which is posted on youtube vs a 96GTS Viper, yet my trap sucked, had some wheelspin @ start
My best time ever on street tires was 12.01 @ 117 @ moncco, in eurocharge event
never got to run my car on slicks, but imagine i woulda gave hooley's original time a run for its money; but the 121mph latest runs ... i dont think my S7 has it in it
its a 115-118 mph at best, which still isnt to bad

New R8's are in the $140s.

No worries, whatthecrunchyo. Lesson learned.
Of course you’re now aware there are several ‘Vettes about that shouldn’t be trifled with during casual encounters.
And it’s advisable to be well ahead before the twisty bits if you intend to demonstrate your C’s other dynamic capabilities

G55 & SLK55
I just wish our cars were slightly lighter, I 've got an SLK and I wish it was lighter by 100-150lbs at least. I saw a Video of a Kleemann S/C SLK S8 that raced a Z06, the Kleemann got a head start at 80kmh but the Z06 caught up by just a fenders length a head, at 280kmh the Z06 shifted into 5th and the SLK just kept on going however the C6 Z06 slammed on the brakes.
You can find it at google videos, whats nice about the Z06 is its quiet light and has a very happy revving and torque crazy engine.
Drawbacks I see with my car, I haven't driven a C55 but what I noticed is that lack of Intake upgrades, cant fit wide tyres and would like to get a faster shifting gearbox.
I've been upgrading my car for the last 3 years and getting it closer to what I want, I cant imagine if I had the SLS gearbox on it with the Kleemann S/C I'm about to install..insanity in the making.
Upgrades I think they should offer, wider selection of camshafts somewhere in the pricing of american muscle camshafts which seem more reasonable. Not many tune AMG's generally speaking but I got another perspective since being here in the forums. There should be pistons available to lower the compression so you can tune the engine more and increase the boost. Also another thing is that the gearbox on my car cant withstand anything above a certain limit of torque not sure what it is but I estimate exceeding 550tq.
