Well, after reading more and more into the forums, I have some questions about our underhood temperatures.
It may come as a surprise to some of you, but our engines do seem to run a little hot and stay hot for an extended period of time.
We have looked at different methods to keep the air intake temps down. As AMS Performance has mentioned, the intake manifold acts as a large heat sink.
Well, what I am looking to provide in this forum is some temperatures (since I haven't seen any) of different engine components. This will lead the way for a some possible future updates (thinking about getting the intake manifold Jet-Hot coated) to see what kind of differences in temperatures we can get. The first plan (since it is cheaper too) would be starting with the intake manifold. The next step would be getting some headers and getting them coated. Not only would the coated headers lower the engine bay temperatures, but it would also allow the catalytic converters to heat up faster since there would be less heat loss through the header section, thus making the car a little more eco-friendly. Everyone knows that going green is the cool thing to do these days.
I will be getting a IR thermometer tomorrow and hopefully get some baseline data posted this weekend.
I am also working on getting a real estate license in Illinois to help fund my addiction (job #3). Just in case anyone is looking or knows anyone that will be in the market in the near future. Haha.

In this market, IL is # 1 in new foreclosure filings in the US, you'd be better making money off your sig line and doing that as a side show at bars!! ***"All underwear are edible if you're man enough." ****Originally Posted by C55Newb121

No luck on doing the tests yet this weekend because of the weather. Hopefully sometime next week I will have some baseline temperature numbers.
Have a great weekend everyone!

FYI your thermostat opens at 88c and your fan comes on around then if u want 2 b colder there is a -10c fan mod it helps out and then get a thermostat that opens sooner

I have the lower thermostat from TVT. Doesn't seem to help much when it's hot out. When it's cooler though there's a noticeable difference in operating temperatures.

I have the PTE thermostat and it does work pretty well. I remember watching the temps at 3/4's the way up. With the Thermostat stays right at 80 even on hot days. I have a number of cooling mods though, and I do even bump into the Check engine light every once in a while when its very cold in the bay area and the car can't really get to its operating temp. Have you looked at the Cooling mod i did on the hood, Theres a whole thread about different hoods and vents for cooling?

tvt is just ported 2 let it flow and pte opens sooner
I think it is a give and take battle. The lower temperatures will keep the engine running cooler, but you want to have a hot enough temperature to make sure the cats are functioning properly.
The goal of finding out some of these temperature numbers is to try and figure out what kind of differences might be available from doing something like the Jet-Hot coating on the intake manifold and headers.
Hood vent mod? I'll have to look for that one.
Have you guys seen the carbon fiber hood for our cars?
I personally think it looks pretty sweet.

I was told by TVT the internals are also modified to open sooner on their thermostat. Thinking about taking it out, drilling the ported hole larger, and adding another opening. Originally I wanted a PTE, but they had just sold out on them. My friend has PTE and says he averages 80C.tvt is just ported 2 let it flow and pte opens sooner
