I find myself using the Tiptronic because the 1500rpm jerk is really annoying when left in Auto mode.

What about you?

Yes, I did notice shifting manually eliminates the 1500 jerk. I use Tiptronic a lot more often now because I hate the loss of power with how the C32 rides around in 5th gear even going 40MPH. To accelerate I'm boosting 10 PSI in 5th. I can prevent any boosting, and still have great acceleration holding gears in manual.

Transmission jerk seems worse in cold weather as well. It has been getting worse since the temperature has cooled some.

The 1500 RPM jerk is not near as bad if you run around in "C" rather than "S". Particularly, if you're not looking for ultimate acceleration.

Dontbanme: I have exactly the same problem as you. I'm sick of the lag or jerkiness below 2000rpm. I posted something to that effect earlier too. I've done quite a bit of research the past few hours and found that it could be related to a faulty throttle position sensor, which will cost around $300 for a new part. Alteranatively, there is this thing called sprintbooster, which will help to eliminate that lag and allow the downshift much quicker. I'm contemplating getting one.

I don't have a "c" mode, just a "w". I haven't noticed a difference between w and s.

I have researched it for weeks. Some people have eliminated it with a new tcu, some by fluid change, some by transmission reprogram. Most learn to live with it and label it the nature of the beast. Some say glycol contamination is the problem, but those without contamination still have issues. I am going to do a fluid change next week to see what happens.

After reading about 95% positive comments about the sprintbooster, I've decided to get one. I'm hoping that it will bring more enjoyment to the C32. The lag really p*sses me off. Unlike the CLK55, she just goes whenever I need her to shift down. $300 is not a lot of money to throw at a problem. Let us know how you go with the fluid changes etc.

C32s tend to have this issue and i do not think there is a way to fix this except by driving "aggressively"! :-)

I had the fluid changed, re-adapt, CPS change and no real difference. To be specific, the fluid change made the shifts appear smoother, but the jerk was still there the same as before. Re-adapt made the jerk less obvious, but it came back after a week or so.

S or W made no difference whatsoever to the jerk. accelerating harder than usual made the jerk seem to go away, but i am guessing that the harder shifts just hid the feeling of the jerk.

The c55 is totally different. No jerk, C,S and M are all very different modes and the car is in general alot "smoother" in all areas. I will say my previous C32 felt faster than my current C55 though. Just my opinions so hopefully no C32 vs C55 aggro. :-)

I tend to agree with this statement, to unlearn the adaptive transmission so to speak. Today, I drove the 32 a lot harder than I have been since I picked her up a couple of months ago and have noticed that the downshift is a lot quicker. This is with the shift in D and sometimes manually through the gears. It's still not quite there but it's better. I plan to drive it hard for the rest of the week and see if it can be more of a permanent thing. When the rev picks up, the 32 sounds great and feels very quick.

I manually down-shift to 1st to avoid brake dust on the wheels! LOL I let it shift auto up through the gears.
