AMG C32
Tips for prospective newbie.
After owning 4 different Porsches in the last 15 years, I'm seriously considering switching marques altogether to MB/AMG and am considering getting a C32 as my family expands and my twin boys find the backseat of my 911 limiting, not to mention my wife complaining about the lack of space for things like strollers. My question is, what tips do you folks recommend when looking for a one? Are there specific things to look out for? Also, it seems that the C32 is more popular amongst enthusiasts than the CLK55 (which I like the looks of better), but is there any reasoning behind why C32s are better than CLK55s (potentially?)

Sounds like your wife and kids would appreciate the 4 doors and ample trunk space. Try and get a late year '03 or any '04. Bi-xenons are nice to get as an option but the upgrade isn't difficult or too expensive. I've never driven a CLK55 nor ridden in a CLK at all, but I'm not very partial to that body style, I prefer a sedan, C/CLS/E/S. Either way you go it's going to be quite a change from the Porsche.

I have found myself that C32s have better handling than a CLK55.
But if you track your porsches than you will find a C55 more suited to your driving style.
C55 is the newest of the three and had it's suspension designed in mind for better handling than the other 2.

The C32 is my first AMG and i have to say i love it! you really wont be sorry to get one, if you want a more track forgiving car then the C55 would be a better option, but for the price of a C32 now a days you cant beat it!

It seems with pretty much any AMG and car in general the later years of any model's manufacture have a lot of the bugs ironed out. With that being said, we know what your wife and kids want out of the car, what are you looking for in your next car?

Also be ready to fix things....like the car, but not all the little things that add up with owning it (some not so little). Fortunately I am comfortable wrenching on cars, otherwise I'd be a real hater. That said get an '03 or later, if iI were doing all over again, I would.

C55 probably an all around better/nicer car (handles better and build quality is superior too)

03 g35 coupe...........02 c32 Sold
the c32's are supercharged and there cheap...most car modders like FI + cheap = fun + Hp.
If your looking for a more reliable family car, i would get the c55. Its newer and more reliable since all the early model w203 bugs were fixed.
The first thing you'll notice on the amg's is the tq even compared to the lighter porsche. But the power delivery is much more refined then a muscle car.
