Just got my CA SMOG!
So for those of you worried about CA emissions, even modded, the C32 still runs pretty clean. Given, a thorough visual check would have failed me, but here's the results:

haha, did they just rev your car, instead of putting it on there roller.?? I took mine to a regular smog shop to see if it would even pass, and the guy said it was running cleaner then most new cars haha... Buff tune = Win! Also they said they couldn't put it on the roller since of the traction control system and they were afraid of damaging the transmission. (Mercedes i guess told the state that the newer merces can't go on those (To bad they don't know about Dyno Mode) so they just reved my car to 2500 rpms for like 30 seconds..... and that was it..

The M112/113 engines tend to run remarkably clean, surreptitious modifications notwithstanding.
My smog guy -whom I’ve been going to for years- also stated that “California doesn’t require dynamometer testing for your car,” even after volunteering to engage dyno mode.
Wasn't too surprised when he didn’t ask to see CARB’s Executive Order exemption certificates for the GMC’s aftermarket camshaft, heads and exhaust hardware.
That bottle of his preferred beverage during the holidays seems to have altered his vision.
It, too, passed with flying colors.
No sniffer? All three of mine required the colonoscopy this year for renewal, although that’s ostensibly soon to be passé.

So you’re in Torrance now…a bit more pleasant than Corona, yes? Ring sometime and we’ll catch up for lunch.

He gave me a certificate that i passed which is what i cared about.
The parents are living in the corona house. I got a apt in torrance, i'm definitly liking the new atmosphere. Its more geared to a younger person. I like the fact i don't have to drive more then 5min for where i need to go.
If i like this new job, i might acquire another property around this area.

Only the resonator delete and Headers. I think I may try the secondary cats now that I have two more years before the next smog...

** Illinois only does OBD now and did away with the rollers a few years back. ** Probably got tired of paying "trans claims" for damage??

i think its just with newer cars built after 2001 when made the carb laws much more stricter. Because I remeber my 94 integra did have to go on the roller. But i didn't have to smog my 2004 civic for 5yrs.

Starting January 1, 2005, owners of vehicles six or less model years old will pay an annual smog abatement fee for the first six registration years instead of being required to provide a biennial smog certification.

Congrats on your new digs and gig.

I ended up taking the C55 i bought back to the dealership due to smog. It really pissed me off to be honest. The guy said it was cleaner than stock, but two readiness Flags on the ECU and no EO# on a few parts would cause it to fail. And this is just something i dont want to worry about. It sucks cause i loved that car :-(

it would only fail if there were ecu error codes, like check engine light codes. My ecu was tuned and i still pass. Check engine light codes is auto fail. All he had to do was clear them.

Ya, it was tuned. I'm sure there was a way to get the readiness flags cleared. Your allowed 1 and mine had 2 (CAT and EGR) but those and no carb#'s for any of the aftermarket stuff was just more than i wanted to deal with. There was no check engine light showing.

Yep, I have my secondary cats out, headers, res's off , and i took out the smog pump. It should be able to pass as others around here are able to pass with out the secondary cats, but the car does start to smell on the freeway when you punch it. When I went in, I just put my pump back in, cleared the Map error (To much boost ) and off it went to smog. The tech was looking around the engine bay and i was prepaired to be ask about the headers .... (If he did ask, i was going to say that this car is an AMG version of the regular C320 and has a different engine let alone different headers) But he never asked so i guess he assumed they were stock He should looked at the massive crank pulley

FYI,
I had my second CAT removed and passed SMOG test about 6 months ago without any problem. (I did not pass it at first because of the readiness, but all was good when I had my tune fixed)

you can have check engine codes or ecu error codes without the check engine light coming on. You can only see them if you have a canbus obdii reader or mb star system. You can only erase the codes with the MB star.

These cars are amazingly clean burning. I just smogged mine a couple months back and chatting with the fellow he told me that that AMG's turn in some real clean results. I joked with him and said thanks for not looking at my headers and he just laughed and told me "keep doing what your doing if it comes back this clean". I don't have headers and he never looked back under the hood.
