any raced a 2001 ss camaro
#3
i've raced one literally more than 50 times...and with all sorts of mods, ranging from a stock one, to one with catback, to one with full exhaust, ....tons of times
an LS1 camaro will pull a stock c32 (which just having K&Ns is) assuming it is a manual. period. oddly enough, IIRC, the flowmaster exhaust actually shows a loss of hp with the LS1 camaros. i'll have to check with my best friend who i've raced with (again, countless times with and have videos of with) to double check that bit of info.

You should win. I raced one from a 40 roll (unknown mods) and pulled immediately up to 100ish. However, the camaro will keep up at higher speeds with a stock c32. Race from 40ish and you will pull every time.

not an LS1. maybe an LT1. an LS1 will not "keep up with a stock C32" but pull the crap out of you up top.

I know what you mean jturkel, I was surprised too. I talked to the guy after the race and it was an 02 Camaro SS with ls1 engine(like the one in the trans am ws6 1998-2002). He even made excuses about the trunk of his car being full when he lost. I was expecting to lose the race up top, but for some reason, it did not happen. My car had k&n's and new plugs and a cm30 ic pump.(car runs much better and stronger with the CM30 Johnson pump which I been running for about a year and a half.)

cm30 doesn't make your car faster. just an fyi. just preventative maintenance since the bosch goes out frequently.

to give you an idea, stock C32s dyno somewhere between 280-290
and i know that hp/lb isn't everything but if you consider that his car weighs less and puts down more power, it would back up my statement about an SS pulling a stock 32...

must have been a dynojet. believable numbers on that one only.

i'm wondering what kind of power the Trans-AM with the WS6 ram-air hood has? note: not the WS6. reason I ask is because I went against one last time and destroyed it. it looks like one of the newer car before they ended the production. looks like the 98-2002 cars.

They have 325 hp on paper and I believe a 6sp gearbox for the manual and a 4sp for the auto. However, they are underrated and actually have around the same hp as a c32. I raced one as well and I beat it easily. It was a manual and newer one (WS6 with the ls1). They are fast on the highway and a high roll, but if the driver cannot shift, they are easily beat by a C32/C55 or the SMG M3 from a dig or a low roll. The problem is that they are hard to launch(my friend had one, but not with the WS6 package) and if you cant drive stick well or miss a gear, its all over for the TA. On the drag strip stock, they are low 13's with around 105 to 107 trap with a good driver.

I surprised one on a two-lane on ramp shortly after I bought my car. We were even up to triple digits +
Guy even slowed down on the highway and pulled in behind me to see what was keeping up with him. This was back in the day when AMG wasn't as well known as today.
