Don't Make Fun of Me...

Guys,

Please don't make fun of me for this question...the car is relatively new and I am still figuring the car out.

Why do I have a headlight wiper button by my headlight switch if there is no wiper or sprayer? I thought that if you didn't have this option, the factory normally will put a blank button in its place. Am I missing something in order to get it to work? It's not supposed to pop out of the bumper right? If it doesn't pop out then it is definitely not there and I revert back to my orginal question

I'm not sure, but it could be like my old Lexus RX330. There weren't any wipers on the headlight, but if I pushed the button, the sprayer would come out of the bumper and squirt the headlights with quite a bit of force. Just push it and see what happens.

Push it or hold it down while at a stop to make it pop out and spray. Worked on my E500 but I havnt tried it on my C55 yet, I hope it works. I used to love doing it at stoplights just to see everyones reactions. I will try mine soon.

what do you think the triangle below the head light is for?

Yes, I understand this. I am not an idiot! However, I press the button and nothing happens. Many vehicles have the headlight sprayer mounted on the bumper. Does the C55 have it mounted or does it pop out?

I've tried just about everything. I tried it with the car off, accessory on, and full on. Every time I have been in park. I've tried depressing the button briefly and holding it.

I just tried depressing the button again and I noticed the dome lights dim, so I know the button is hooked up. It kind of seems silly, but, the doors don't have to be closed, do they?

Frank never said that word. But your avatar does state army aviation.

OK, enough of the jokes.

1) Do you have washer fluid in your tank?
2) Have you checked the fuse?
3) Is the hose connected to the pump?
4) etc.

you really shouldn't title your threads that, none of us are here to belittle anyone. hell, want a good laugh? take a look at some of the threads on the w203 non-amg forums. there have been huge arguments on there about non-relative stuff! one of the guys had to post a new thread telling everyone to shut up.

If your car came with factory xenons, then you should have that button. Now if you look at your headlights and look right below, you should see an area where the headlight washer pops out of. If it's not there, the car could have been in an accident and they replaced the bumper with the wrong bumper.

See if you have the actual washer on the front bumper below the lights.
Maybe car was in an accident and owner replaced the bumper w/o the washers to save money?

I onno..

He says he has the switch for it, so its Factory option unless someone went through a LOT of work to install washers on the car??

were trying to say that the option was there from factory but maybe due to an accident the front bumper was replaced with a bumper that doesnt have the system.

I believe all C55's had Xeon just bi-Xeon was option, so he should have washers.

Anything is possible, BUT more likely he has the system and doesn't know how to use it or the motor doesn't work or is out of fluid. Can you send us some photos of switch and also the bumper (showing the nozzles)

This was my first thought. Did you buy this car from a dealer? If you did then I would bet that they bought the car wrecked and put a bumper on it. They do this kind of bs all the time in Texas, that's why I never buy my cars from here. Shady... Now if you bought it from a private owner it still could be a possibility they took the insurance check and got the selves a clk bumper off ebay with no headlight washer and had it painted to save some money...

I've only used it once, and that was to show a friend what it did (I didn't know what to expect either). The high pressure spray damn near wet the lady walking next to us. Regardless, the old school benz's used to have actual wipers, the ones now just spray and hide.

Here is a close up picture of my front bumper.
If you don't have the washer opening /cutout on the front bumper (below the light) and you have the switch in the interior, I would say your car was in minor or major front accident. And more than likely, they didn't fix the car correctly. I found this common on used mb cars..
I could be wrong though.. Talk to your car's previous owner or dealer. Since you already bought the car, theres nothing much you can do..

It's a useless option imo.. but it is cool to have it

The wipers on my W124 400E didn't spray at all. They only came on when the main wipers where running and the headlights were on to clean off rain and dirt... I wouldn't be upset about the loss, all they do is cause dried wiper fluid on the hood on a nice black car or what ever color your rocking.

everyone seems to no so much here,
i asked a question about identifying brake calipers and didn't get one response,
someone asks about a headlight washer and your beating each other up to answer it,
i even read one answer and 2-3 hours later someone posted the same answer on the next line down but the only difference was the words were put in a different order.
i used to post on an Audi forum with some tricky question and you would always get an answer even if it weren't the one you wanted, was this question asked for a laugh.
there's a button to wash you headlights, if it don't spray water out when you push it then you need to check the obvious things first like this fella (amdeutsch) said.
i thought the forum was to help.
