Anybody removed 2nd cat only?
Removing resonator gives better sound, removing resonator and secondary cat gives more hp and really loud sound, So how about just removing the secondary cat while leaving the resonator? That should give more power with a not as loud sound right? I want more power but dont want it too loud.

Yeah I've often wondered the same thing. I'm not a huge fan of the sound at idle a C32 makes with no res or 2ndary cats....but I'd like to pick up a few ponies where possible

Do you currently have both taken off?
if not... In my opinion, it's minimally louder inside the cabin vs stock with both removed. The big difference in sound is when you are past 50% throttle; not when you are cruising at a constant speed.
if you are ever in the OC area let me know. I'd be happy to take you for a short drive so you can compare

i have both off, to me it sounds insane for a 3.2l v6. inside the cabin its not loud at all, like stated above, it is noticably lounder at 50-100% throttle. but just cruising its nice and quiet

good clips...does make me less apprehensive about losing both (if I can find someone who'll do it).
That said what the OP and I were hoping to find is someone who just removed the cats and not the resonator.

I have just my secondary cats taken out. It only made it slightly louder in the car, sounds pretty throaty outside, but nothing like an American V8 with flowmasters.

bumping this thread back up because i'm considering doing this myself.
i want to give the exhaust note a little boost, but from listening to the videos of resonator deletes I feel that the sound increase is too much for a Benz.
for those who have ONLY the secondary cats deleted and not the resonator, can you comment on the sound difference and the effect on power, if any?

I have the secondaries deleted but retained the resonator just b/c I wanted to take it a step at a time instead of all out and end up regretting it. I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes, but the secondaries were replaced with an x pipe just in case I decide to go for the duals. Sound-wise, it was definitely an improvement. It's how I think it should have sounded from the factory. A little louder in the cabin when cruising, a bigger difference when you get on it higher in the rpms...but still not anywhere near being obnoxious. I'm doing the Eurocharged DC dyno and tune tomorrow, I can try to get some video...

Just remove both, it sounds great and you can't hear the exhaust at cruising speed anyway. It really isn't that loud inside the car, I'm looking for more.
That's because Flowmaster sounds like chit. A Corvette with a Corsa is the second best sound out there next to a Gallardo with a Tubi.

Here ya go...btw, kudos to Jerry and the Eurocharged crew as well as the folks at Moore Automotive. The tune really fattened up the low end and midrange! ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

dre what are the mods on your car, its nice to see dyno numbers on the same dyno. Between you my friend and me, however I do have a C32. My buddy has a c55 with SL wheels on it and CF front lip and trunk spoiler, pretty loud as well, headers and some other exhaust work I wonder if you saw it at Moore on Sunday.

Hi Benzo, the only mods before the tune were K&Ns and the secondaries replaced with an x-pipe (going dual in the next month or so...). I suspect the x-pipe is why I didnt see bigger gains in the higher RPMs as the 2.5's merge at the x, split and then merge again immediately into the 3" for the resonator...that must make things a little turbulent. But it will be a non-issue soon. I had the first slot of the day so I only got to chat with one guy with a nice CLS55
I've seen some talk of a DC/MD/VA get-together, so hopefully that happens sometime this year. It would be cool to meet some of the locals!
