Seat heater

Cold over here in Toronto. Just perfect timing for a seat heater not to work. The switch, with the to red lights are not luminated. And of course the heater does not work.. Any one got any ideas/thoughts. Could it be a fuse? Or do you think it might be an element.
Any help most appreciated, otherwise its just killer car that I love driving.

more than likely i'd say blown fuses, although seat warmers are known to go out.

Mine doesn't work either, but the display illuminates in red. Is it the back heater and but heater that are out? if it's both I'm going to guess it's just a fuse that's busted.

btw, whereabouts in Toronto are you?

heater

I am in Thornhill. It may be a fuse but I checked them all. They seem to be ok. But I will take it to my MB dealer and have them check it out. It has to go in for a A service anyway. As for you, I think, if you heater lights are luminated it may be the element. I had to replace one on my other car, 600 buck later I had heat.
Cheers

Really hoping the extended warranty will cover my heating element. I've been meaning to take into the dealer to get it checked. I live in Richmond Hill, where do you take your care? I'm still searching for a good mechanic around here.

I take it to MB on Steeles ave, if not theri than at MB in Ajax, There was a good MB tech with a small shop in Thornhill but he has since closed. But I am sure there are a few out there. I'm told there is a good shop in Woodbridge that does high end cars but the name escapes me. I will try to find out the name of that shop today. If so, I will pass it on to you.

I had them go out as well. Never used them until I wanted to try them out before my warranty expired and sure enough they were bad.

Dealer replaced the whole seat cover as the heating elements are inside the seat cover (or so I was told). The constant movement of the elements leads them to eventually fail.

Got need seat cover on both sides out of it....so no complaints here. Seat heaters are a nice feature but I would not have bothered replacing them if it were on my dime. Not much need for them in Southern CA.

I tend to agree with you. Depending on what the probem is, if its a fuse (right) then its simple, if its an element then I won't bother. I don't really like the idea of some one taking the seat apart. Hope the weather is great down in CA, its cold as hell up here in Toronto.

As for a good MB tech..i recommend Mike from Oakride Auto..theyre also kleeman authorized and when i went he had a bunch of c32s there...hes in oakville..if you dont mind driving down from thornhill he is well worth it and chargers around half of what MB does..Im in mississauga and hes the only one i would take my car to. highly recommend him

I'm in Toronto as well. I got my C32 about 6 months ago with only 95,000kms, the driver side seat heater also doesn't work. Doesn't illuminate. I've checked the fuse and it isn't that. Sometimes if I pull the fuse and plug it back in, I can get the button to illuminate for a second, then it'll turn off and pressing the button again does nothing. I'm pretty sure it's cutting out. Either there's a short or something is damaged. I haven't really investigated further. My stepper motor is gone too, but the heat still works. Seems like we have the same problem. Let me know what you find out.

thanks,

Bryan
